JOB OVERVIEW

The data scientist will work to support key business functions by leveraging analytical tools and techniques, strategic thinking, and machine learning (traditional, deep learning, generative AI).  By partnering with business and operational teams the data scientist will use data analysis methods to gain insight into performance and identify areas of improvement.  The data scientist will work on complex projects developing predictive and descriptive models and automating business processes.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Analyze data to discover patterns and trends and to develop predictive models.
  • Collect, aggregate, clean, validate, and analyze data from multiple internal and external sources for use in advanced analytics and modeling.
  • Evaluate new data sources and data gathering techniques.
  • Write and maintain production quality code to build and maintain data pipelines and deploy models.
  • Develop high quality predictive and descriptive models and algorithms, utilizing advanced statistics and machine learning.
  • Deploy models and monitor model performance and data validity to ensure quality results.
  • Research and implement cutting edge techniques and technology including the latest advances in ML/DL/AI algorithms.
  • Work with IT and data engineering teams to deploy data pipelines and models.
  • Develop an understanding of the business issues and data challenges of the organization to provide meaningful insights through data analysis.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, business units, and other data scientists to identify opportunities.
  • Communicate findings and insight to stakeholders through metrics and data visualizations.
  • Evaluate the business and end user data requirements and develops analytical and reporting solutions to address those needs.
  • Understand and translate business requirements into functional requirements for analysis or modeling projects.

 

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field (Statistics, Physics, Engineering, etc.) AND a minimum 3 years of related experience in a technical discipline; OR
  • Master’s degree plus one-year experience in related discipline; OR
  • PhD in a related field
  • Insurance industry experience is a plus. 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Knowledge of advanced math and statistics for data analysis, including a working knowledge of statistical tests, distributions, regression, etc.
  • Proficient in Python and SQL, or another programming language such as R, Java, C++, or Scala.
  • Familiar with querying structured databases. Knowledge of unstructured databases is a plus.
  • Knowledge of machine learning basics and experience with common machine learning algorithms. Experience with deep learning algorithms and/or advanced NLP techniques is a plus.
  • Familiarity with programming IDEs (VSCode, Jupyter Notebooks, Spyder, PyCharm, etc.) is a plus.
  • Familiarity working in Cloud environments is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as data visualization skills.
  • Ability to present complex projects and results to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment with business partners and other data scientists.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of insurance and the insurance industry is a plus.

COMPENSATION

The salary range listed for this position is $89,139.23 to $150,327.26 USD. This range is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses.  If hired at ICW Group, your final base salary compensation will be determined by factors unique to each candidate including experience, education, and location of the role and considers employees performing substantially similar work.

The current range for this position is

$89,139.23 - $150,327.26
