In this position... 
Data Analytics position within Powertrain Engineering, working on quality data analysis, insights, and presentation material for executive level management reviews.


Ford ICE, Propulsion and Thermal Systems Engineering (IPTSE) Quality Team is looking for a Data Analytics Specialist to support our team by analyzing and interpreting warranty and connected vehicle data indicators to focus the team on emerging issues and key insights. This role will involve developing data solutions for internal customers and working with the engineering teams on the use of data for problem solving. We are looking for someone who has a passion for growing their skills, tackling exciting “leading edge” work, has a passion for customer quality, and likes problem solving potential concerns.


What you'll do...
Day to day responsibilities will include analyzing data from Ford’s internal warranty system, as well as multiple big data sources that will be used in creating executive level presentations. These presentations will include charts and narrative writing that clearly tell the story that the data is telling us, as well as insights that our team would like to highlight to upper management. Another part of this role will be working with the greater Powertrain team in data requests as needed.

Warranty Data Analysis 

Presentation information gathering

Analyzing collected data and putting it into a format that others can easily interpret

Assist with executive level presentation preparation

Execute various quality data requests from the IPTSE organization 

Work with PD teams to extract, summarize, and analyze Warranty and Connected Vehicle data to further understand and problem solve potential issues

Work with the IPTSE team to enhance the use of Connected Vehicle data (e.g., engine speed, vehicle speed, warning lights, etc.) through the ideation and development of tools/methods for problem solving

Work with the IPTSE team to develop processes, tools and methods to obtain insight from large files of Connected Vehicle data

Promote and use Agile Data Collection methods (RDR, PARSED, CARMon, ADC Lua Scripting) in support of engineering problem solving and data-driven decisions

Build strong and trusting relationships with business partners across Ford North American organizations



You'll have... 
Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science or related field

1+ years of experience in Big Data Analytics 

1+ years of experience in query languages, SQL, Google BigQuery, or Spark

1+ years of experience with visualization skills in communicating data insights to make data analysis measurable and understandable by business partners



Even better, you may have...
Master’s Degree or above in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science or related field

3+ years of experience in Big Data Analytics

2+ years of experience in query languages: SQL, Google BigQuery, or Spark.

Proven skills in team building, implementing process improvements, problem solving, and consistent delivery to objectives

Ability to take complex problems and break them down to build and implement an action plan

Strong collaboration and communication skills, ability to engage with upper management and peers

Self-motivated individual with a high level of initiative

Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, sophisticated, global environment

Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple teams and projects

Ability to consistently perform at a high level of technical competence, showing composure and decisiveness under pressure

Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills

Ability to understand how to ingest large data sets from a variety of sources (SQL, Python, Java, Alteryx, Qlik Sense, etc.)

Expertise to manipulate data to form unified data sets for analysis.

Knowledge of data management

Experience with Automotive systems, features, and/or components
