Work Designation. Depending on your location within the continental US, this role may be hybrid or remote.

• If you live within 50 miles of the Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, this role will be hybrid. This means you will be expected to work in the office for at least 60% of the work week. You will work from your home (within the continental US) for the remaining portion of the work week. Details of this schedule will be discussed with your leadership. 
• If you live more than 50 miles from the Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, this role will be remote. This means you will be expected to work from your home, within the continental US. If the role is remote, there may be occasions that you are requested to come to the office based on business need. Any requests to come to the office would be communicated with you in advance.

What does it take to be successful in this role?

• Strong data management, data engineering, data quality and data governance skillsets and proven leadership track record.
• Knowledge of SQL and experience with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
• Strong insurance business expertise; demonstrated experiences in supporting insurance functions to achieve business transformation.
• Strong proficiency with Business Intelligence tools and techniques (Tableau, Power BI, Business Object, etc.
• Strong project management and organizational abilities.
• Demonstrated knowledge of complex business analysis.
• Proficiency in process improvement techniques; diagnostic and creative problem-solving skills.
• Excellent presentation, oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills to effectively interact and negotiate with internal/external customers and senior management.

Education & Experience Required

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Information Management, Engineering or a related field.
• 8 years of professional job-related work experience, 5 years management experience.
• Proven experience in data engineering, governance, analytics or a related.

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

• Leads the daily operations of the data engineering & governance team; collaborates with business stakeholders to understand their data needs and translates them into technical requirements.
• Creates and implements data solutions, governance and engineering programs that support US strategies and financial objectives.
• Enable and advocate for providing best in class data engineering solutions & governance programs that maximize impacts of business decisions.
• Lead, motivate, and coach data engineering and governance associates to deliver value and advance Aflac data model over time.
• Develop and maintain extensive partnership with Digital Services to assess the right data and platforms to implement for Aflac US.
• Ensures data quality, integrity, and security across all data, reporting & analytics solutions.
• Effectively communicate the value of data engineering & governance to executive leadership team and other stakeholders.
• Provides training and support to business users on data governance and techniques & processes.
• Stays abreast of industry trends and advancements in data solutions, engineering, and data governance.
• Performs other duties as required.

This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting.  Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate. The salary range for this position is $83,000 - $193,000.
