Business Units Information and Digital Solutions (IDS) is a global organization strategically positioned so that through information and technology leadership and solutions, we create meaningful connections and remarkable experiences, so people feel genuinely cared for. The Business Unit IDS organization is accountable for designing, developing, and supporting commercial or customer engagement services and capabilities that span multiple Business Units (Bio-Medicines, Diabetes, Oncology, International), functions, geographies, and digital channels. The areas supported by Business Unit IDS includes: Customer Operations, Marketing and Commercial Operations, Medical Affairs, Market Research, Pricing, Reimbursement and Access, Customer Support Programs, Digital Production and Distribution, Global Patient Outcomes, and Real-World Evidence.   

This position is responsible to provide architectural guidance to the team and develop future roadmap for the data domain. In this role, you'll collaborate with business & IT stakeholders and product engineering teams to drive innovation, data standards and best practices in data solutions and ensure the widespread adoption of shared data capabilities across the organization. Data Architect

A Data Architect is a professional responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the data architecture of an organization, including data modeling, data warehousing, data integration, and data governance. They ensure that the organization's data infrastructure meets business requirements, is scalable, secure, and aligned with industry best practices.

Key capabilities in this role family include:

  • Design conceptual and logical data architectures that enable the implementation of intended business outcomes and re-usable, data products.
  •  Provide thought leadership and expert input on projects requiring extensive data requirements gathering, data modelling, data integration, and testing.
  •  Collaborate with business stakeholders, data owners, and product owners to anticipate future data architecture needs and to resolve challenging data taxonomy and data integration challenges.
  •  Provide expert knowledge of data management principles, standards, and best practices to business and technology teams.
  •  Work with technology teams to define long-term data management strategy and capability roadmaps.
  •  Work with cross functinal technology teams to define technical evaluation criteria for product and technology selection.

Must Have:

  • 8+ years of overall IT experience and 3+ years as a data Architect.
  • Development experience in the core tools and technologies like SQL, Python, AWS (Lambda, Glue, S3, Redshift, Athena, IAM Roles & Policies) , PySpark used by the solution services team.
  • Design end-to-end data architectures using Databricks, ensuring they meet scalability, reliability, and security requirements.
  • Manage and optimize Databricks clusters, workspaces, and notebooks to ensure efficient processing and storage.
  • Implement best practices for data governance, security, and compliance on the Databricks platform.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on Databricks and related big data technologies, mentoring junior team members.
  • Design and oversee the implementation of data integration processes to ingest, clean, and transform data from various sources into the Databricks environment.
  • Monitor and tune data architecture and Databricks performance to handle large-scale data workloads.
  • Implement strategies for cost optimization and efficient resource utilization within the Databricks environment.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest Databricks features and industry trends to continuously improve data architectures.
  • 3+ years of experience in Agile Development and code deployment using Github & CI-CD pipelines.
  • 2+ years of experience in job orchestration using Airflow.
  • Expertise in the design, data modelling, creation, and management of large datasets/data models
  • Ability to work with business owners to define key business requirements and convert to technical specifications
  • Ensure successful transition of applications to service management team through planning and knowledge transfer
  • Leads cross-functional product development teams, acting also as a senior consultant to provide system and technical advice.
  • Partner with and influence vendor resources on solution development to ensure understanding of data and technical direction for solutions as well as delivery
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications / Certifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, management information systems or equivalent work experience
  • Pharmaceutical or healthcare industry experience
  • Certification in Databricks or related big data technologies.
  • Experience with real-time data processing and streaming analytics.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
