About the Role

As a Data Analyst Chapter Lead, you are responsible for building world class capability in your chapter. You’ll be a promoter and ambassador of the new culture and ways of working. You will bring domain knowledge or deep expertise on a specific topic and develop this expertise and T-shaped capability in your chapter members. You are also expected to be hands on within our squads atleast 20% of your time. This role is responsible for nurturing, developing and growing data, reporting and analytics capability across the tribe, building and fostering a strong data driven culture and ensuring knowledge sharing, learning / training / up-skilling, career development, and standards / governance / QA are embraced and adopted.

What will your day look like?

  • Address and solve complex business issues using large amounts of data

  • Have a clear understanding of the end-to-end remediation journey and the data value chain

  • Implement a fact-based culture throughout the bank.

  • Continuous generation, monitoring, presenting and conducting of 'fact-based' reporting and analysis of relevant insights to use at any time for the development and improvement of relevant and innovative propositions

  • Develop tools and methods to fully profile customers and customer segments

  • Source data from a variety of sources to combine, synthesise and analyse to generate insights

  • Initiate, design and implement innovative trends in the field of data analytics

  • Support key data platform and/or data scheduling jobs to support insights delivery to key audiences (e.g. frontline, other tribes)

  • Lead, optimise, design and execute business interventions (customers and operational) to uplift customer engagement and business performance

  • Work with out ‘Enablement’ team to delivery standardisation and automation initiatives

Core skills and expertise required:

  • Data Mining / Sourcing Skills - Advanced analytics capabilities to identify market and optimisation opportunities using statistical & modelling techniques. SAS skills.

  • Financial/ Business/ Commercial/ Market Acumen - Deep understanding of Banking and the products, markets, industries, channels and customer segments. Customer Remediations experience will be an advantage

  • Customer Focus - Defines and measures success through the eyes of the customer and anticipates, understands and responds to evolving customer needs 

  • Continuous Improvement & Change – Leads self and others through change, transition and uncertainty through developing strong change agenda, maintaining focus and ensuring open and constructive dialogue around change

  • Problem Solving - Fosters a culture that encourages the use of creative and innovative problem solving techniques. Creates a safe environment for people to try something new. Encourages outward focus toward different ways of doing things

  • Market / Industry Knowledge - Future focused and actively understands industry trends, ensuring capability development is aligned; Modifies & makes decisions based on market knowledge/awareness and influences strategic direction accordingly • Set ups & executes strategy to meet customer needs and expectations, now and in the future

  • Influence & Relationship Building - Deepens and sustains relationships and facilitates internal & external stakeholder buy-in; Demonstrates a sophisticated repertoire of influencing techniques and ability to adjust style to different contexts and audiences

What will you bring?


To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following: 

  1. Data Analyst domain:
    • Hands-on knowledge and experience with tools and techniques for analysis, data manipulation and presentation (e.g., SAS, Teradata, Python, Jupyter Notebook,). SAS skills is a must have.
    • Solid understanding of concepts in applied probability and statistics
  2. Line Manager:
    • Ability to build the skills and developing our teams's data-related skills needed to excel in transforming data into value for our business
    • Passionate about creating the right environment for chapter members to develop competencies and skill.
    • Coaching and mentoring skills.
  3. Customer Focussed
    • Strong customer lens and affinity
    • Strong ability to translate data insights into practical business recommendations

    • Manage capacity planning and requests for Data Analysts
