Job Description Summary:

RESEARCH BACKGROUND AND GOALS

The Sun Lab is seeking a highly self-motivated bioinformatics technician who is eager to apply their computational skills to advance our understanding of complex biological systems and human diseases. Our research focuses on developing cutting-edge computational methods to analyze vast datasets at single-cell resolution, including transcriptomic and spatial data. These approaches aim to unravel the complexity of cell-cell communication, brain-immune crosstalk, and genotype-phenotype relationships, which are critical for understanding the molecular underpinnings of health and disease. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-impact research that bridges computational biology and biomedical research, focusing on diseases with significant clinical relevance. The successful candidate will be instrumental in analyzing diverse datasets, developing methods, and applying their bioinformatics expertise to uncover the molecular drivers of disease and identify potential therapeutic interventions.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY

Collaborate on short and long term independent research projects to support scientific research objectives of the lab. Utilize programming skills to design and implement tools directly related to biological research. The research includes the analysis of high throughput single-cell sequencing data, spatial transcriptomics data, development of code and algorithms to study questions related to single cell genomics and using statistical tools to evaluate different hypothesis
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES
  • Maintain and improve single cell omics and spatial database and processing pipelines
  • Develop and implement existing and new computational methods and tools for high-throughput analysis of diverse data.
  • Integrate multiple types of data and analytical methods in creative ways to exploit genomic information
  • Document workflows and visualization of data using appropriate tools
  • Present results to internal and external collaborators
  • Other duties, as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
  • BSc or MSc or equivalent in Computational Biology, Genome Science, Bioinformatics, .
