Job Description

In this role, the Marketing Scientist will be responsible for developing and executing marketing campaigns, conducting market research, and creating reports that help advertisers understand their target audience. They will also be expected to work with stakeholders across the organization to gather requirements, design and implement analytical solutions, and communicate findings effectively to key decision makers. 

 

Mission:

  • Develop Marketing Science solutions for Strategic Analytics & Insights (SAI)/ or Commercial products in the area of marketing effectiveness, brand management, pricing research, etc.  
  • Support product development during planning, concept building and concept testing phases  
  • Share Marketing Science knowledge within Regional and Global Marketing Science and Product network (training, presentation, COP, etc.) 
  • Sometimes represent GfK’s Marketing Science expertise at internal and external conferences and workshops 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support the development of product concepts based on business requirements/needs 
  • Implement marketing science and statistical models in proofs-of-concept (POCs) and prototypes based on the deep, multifaceted assessment of the value and feasibility of an idea 
  • Implement large meta-analytical or validation studies around relevant marketing science topics to create new learnings/ internal know-how 
  • Support the documentation and the presentation of the outcomes of the POCs and validation studies 
  • Contribute to best practices in the area of Marketing Science 
  • Participate in Communities of Practice; foster Marketing Science related knowledge exchange within GfK 
  • When needed, serve as a key expert to assist regional marketing science teams during project execution 
  • Present at internal and external conferences and workshops 
  • Closely collaborate with the MCI Product Owners, Marketing Science Delivery Leads, Machine Learning Engineers  

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in a field that emphasizes the learning of modelling, statistical or mathematical skills (PhD is a plus) 
  • 3-5+ years of work experience 
  • Solid modelling skills and statistics knowledge (essential) 
  • Solid statistical skills and knowledge of econometric techniques in: 

       - survey/polling statistics (sampling, non-response adjustments, Bayesian statistics), and/or 

       - econometric modelling (program evaluation, forecasting, economic theory, panel data), and/or 

       - observational causal inference (potential outcomes, structural equation models, instrumental variables), and/or 

       - experimental design 

  • Some experience in the following fields: brand management, pricing research, digital behavioural analysis, segmentation, etc 
  • Very good knowledge of analytics programming languages (e.g., Python, R) and the respective tool ecosystem (e.g., R-Studio Server, Spyder, Jupyter, POSIT Workbench) 
  • Very good experience using version control systems (e.g., Git) 
  • Good experience visualizing and communicating results of data analyses with the ability to think beyond the numbers while addressing real-world business problems 
  • Some experience in open data sourcing (Google Trends, Social Mentions, etc.)  
  • Some SQL skills with regards to working with relational databases

  • Good attention to detail – ensure all outputs are delivered professionally and accurate 
  • Good interpersonal skills – treat others with respect, be cooperative, friendly and considerate of others.  Be a good role model, help to build teamwork and team spirit 
  • Be well-organised and flexible, and demonstrate self-confidence, decisiveness and commitment 
  • Good experience with agile development practices 
  • Ease of communication in an English-speaking business environment
