About the Role:

We are currently looking for an Analytical Chemist to add to our method development team. The primary responsibilities of this role are to develop, optimize, validate, and troubleshoot analytical methods to support the testing of raw materials, in-process, finished products, and stability samples. 

This position will support investigative material characterization testing to help solve issues such as sample identification, contamination, and adulteration.

What you'll do:

  • Develop new test methods for raw ingredients, formulas, investigational samples, and contaminates. Provide accurate data for decision making. 

  • Verify and validate test methods for foods, supplements and OTC personal care products with full method validations as needed. Document testing with cGMP and GLP compliance and record into a laboratory information management system.

  • Routinely perform advanced analysis related to LC-MSMS, LC-QTOF and GC-MSMS.

  • Operate and maintain LC-QQQ and QTOF systems, including instrument maintenance, troubleshooting and assist with execution of equipment installation, qualifications, and validations.  Utilize associated ionization and collision techniques to elucidate structures and enhance detection capabilities for analytes being investigated.

  • Evaluate opportunities to revise existing methods by adopting new technologies for better accuracy and efficiency.  

  • Research literature for methodologies and related regulatory requirements.  Keep current and critically evaluate new technology through reading scientific literature, attending scientific conferences, and networking with external experts.  Publish research findings at scientific meetings by posters and presentations. 

  • Perform complete analysis of test methods and standard operating and safety procedures, evaluate data, and report results accordingly. Demonstrate proficiency in multiple areas of the analytical laboratory.

  • Review and approve testing records completed by other analysts. Assist in the review and revision of methods and SOPs.

  • Oversee the training of fellow employees in new methods and procedures or learning the operation of laboratory analytical equipment.  Ensure their proficiency levels are met, and training documentation is completed.  Provide expertise and mentoring in troubleshooting, interpreting data, and developing skillsets of other laboratory staff.

What you'll need:

  • Master’s or higher degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, or related science, with minimum of 5 years of work experience and considerable knowledge of analytical, organic, and inorganic chemistry and proven problem-solving capabilities. Ability to interpret complex mass spectral data is highly desired.

  • Experience with multiple analytical instruments and software, e.g. HPLC/UPLC, LC-QQQ, LC-QTOF, GC, GC-MS, GC-QQQ, ICP, ICP-MS, etc.

  • Experience in proteomics, multivariate statistics including reference data sets, mass spec library addition/creation.

  • Proven experience with Agilent 6595 LC- QQQ and Brucker IMPACT II Q-TOF a plus.

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Accountable for assignments and delivers under pressure.

  • Strong computer experience: Statistical software (R, JMP, SPSS), Java, Python, database, LIMS, Excel, Word, Outlook.

  • Good knowledge of GMP/GLP and laboratory policies.  

  • Experience in written and verbal communication.

  • Excellent record keeping and organizational skills.
