The Computational Science & Informatics division at Roche is integral to advancing the company's research capabilities and driving innovation in drug development through sophisticated data science and computational techniques.  In this role you will work with a highly collaborative team of imaging scientists, product managers and software developers and build imaging and data analysis algorithms and solutions in the field of Digital Pathology. You will be a technical expert for Software Development in Test and lead a team passionate about software verification of image processing algorithms, pattern recognition and integration with platform software. You will provide oversight on software standard processes, test automation, verification and release.

The Opportunity:  

  • You will lead the design & development of automated testing of Roche Digital Pathology algorithms

  • You will lead and manage a team of high performing software development engineers in test.

  • You will collaborate with multi-functional leads to align on work scope & release timelines

  • You will work closely with imaging scientists, subject matter experts to understand the algorithms and perform necessary data analysis for confirming the technical performance specifications and scientific accuracy. Also, solve failures and report any issues identified.

  • You will develop reusable and scalable data analysis tools libraries used for component as well as end-to-end verification.

  • You will become the image analysis subject matter expert and mentor within the software test engineering organization.

  • You will participate in requirements, architecture, and design specification reviews

  • You will assist in driving dry run and formal verification testing

  • You will follow defined software development lifecycle procedures and standard processes


 

Who you are:  

  • You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Biomedical engineering or related field or equivalent work experience

  • You have 2+ years of experience managing team of software engineers in test

  • You have 3+ years of experience in algorithm test engineering  and complex data interpretation & analysis

  • You have 4+ years of professional experience with Python or equivalent scripting language

  • You have 6+ years of hands on experience in software development in test, test automation frameworks, CI/CD tools, cloud and container management technologies

  • You have experience in Agile software development process and software engineering best practices

  • You have experience in recruiting, building & coaching high-performing engineering teams

Preferred: 

  • You have experience analyzing histopathology images

  • You have experience in Performance testing

  • You have experience in medical device software or regulated software verification

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Santa Clara, CA is 165,200- 306,800 Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.
