As a Distinguished Engineer within CVS Health's Healthcare Delivery business, you will play a crucial role in driving technical innovation and advancing our platforms, products & end user experiences within the organization. You will be responsible for design & hands on implementation in partnership with our architecture and engineering teams, ensuring optimal usability, productivity, and collaboration for our employees. This role requires a strategic mindset, technical prowess, and a deep understanding of what it takes to build for scale, performance & cross organizational reusability promoting engineering efficiency & engineering best practices to deliver highly reliable products that enable our business partners, care delivery teams, and the members we serve. You will own and execute on high priority enterprise level initiatives, influencing other areas within the business. Partnering with various product delivery teams throughout the technology & business teams to build out the best colleague experience. This role is responsible for big picture thinking, strategic direction, presenting to executive stakeholders and partnering with senior technology leadership to ensure  overarching delivery outcomes are being met.  Part technologist, part evangelist and part futurist, this key role could be your opportunity to re-define the meaning of how care is delivered, where & to whom it is most needed, for a respected global healthcare - a Fortune 4 company with over 300,000 associates and $340B in top line revenue.

This role reports directly to the SVP of Technology & is open to remote candidates across the US with requirements for periodic travel to our primary technology hubs in Chicago, Dallas & Galway, Ireland.

You will create impact by:

  • Helping to define and implement the technical roadmap for healthcare delivery products, ensuring scalability, security, and performance, persistently designing for experience and resiliency in a boundary-less and secure manner.
  • Providing technical leadership and mentorship to a team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning. Pursue technical solutions that provide operational efficiencies, minimize risks, and align to business strategy.
  • Playing a key role in the development of the next generation of engineers across our organization
  • Influences and simplifies technology stack discussions with business and Engineering.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product owners, designers, and business stakeholders, to drive key initiatives, bring innovative ideas and concepts to life, facilitating a culture of experimentation.
  • Driving continuous improvement in engineering practices, through automation, performance optimization, and code quality enhancements.
  • Designing and architecting robust technical solutions that deliver a seamless user experience across various devices and platforms.
  • Evaluating and selecting the most suitable technologies and tools to optimize productivity, collaboration, and employee satisfaction with an emphasis on leveraging advanced techniques such as AI, Machine Learning and Cloud Native platforms.
  • Staying updated on the latest healthcare technologies, industry trends, and emerging best practices.
  • Conducting technology evaluations, proofs of concept, and pilots to assess the feasibility and effectiveness of new tools and platforms.
  • Championing innovation and exploring cutting-edge technologies that can enhance the digital workplace experience and deliver tangible business value.
  • Demonstrates business, product and technical expertise, influencing business leaders to understand and advocate for proposed solutions. Ability to ‘sell’ ideas and define value/relevance to business leaders, ultimately increasing adoption of proposed solutions.
  • Collaborating with others to solve CVS's toughest issues to deliver business needs that directly impact the lives of our colleagues and customers.
  • Embodying a deep technical expertise and thought leadership that will help accelerate our growth objectives. The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, be a self-starter, and be highly productive in a dynamic, collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will have the following experience / knowledge / ability:
    • 15+ years of experience in software development, enterprise architecture, or a similar role.
    • 10+ Years of experience in Python, Java or similar programming languages
    • 5+ years in AI development, framework libraries and AI tooling platforms for integration and lifecycle management
    • 5+ AWS, Azure or GCP
    • 5+ years of experience with developing and implementing target architectures that apply best practices for working with transactional and analytical workloads
    • Proven track record of designing and implementing digital workplace solutions, preferably in a large-scale enterprise environment.
    • Expertise in digital collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft 365, Slack, Google Workplace) and workplace analytics.
    • Strong knowledge of cloud computing, SaaS architectures, and technologies such as machine learning and AI.
    • Prior experience with large healthcare, media, and entertainment or ΓÇÿbig tech' companies.
    • Bachelor's Degree - Computer Science, Software Engineering or other related discipline
    • Advanced Degree- Computer Science, Software Engineering or other related discipline

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$175,100.00 - $334,750.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
