The role:

We are looking for a Data Scientist within our Clinical Research and Innovation workstreams to drive Oviva’s mission of enhancing long-term health outcomes through advanced data-driven strategies. In this role, you will use your strong technical expertise to deeply understand and analyse our data, aiming to drive improvements in patient engagement, retention, and outcomes across the organisation. Collaborating closely with clinical trial managers, clinical leads, project managers and clinical quality experts, your role will involve designing and implementing experiments, clinical trial data management and conducting advanced statistical analysis, and communicating impactful insights.

To succeed in this role, you should have a strong analytical background, exceptional problem-solving skills, and superior communication skills, dedicated to supporting Oviva’s vision of accessible and effective healthcare solutions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work closely with our Clinical Research, Innovation and Quality teams to implement data-driven solutions.

  • Clinical Trial data management and endpoint analytics.

  • Employ advanced data analysis and visualisation techniques to derive insights from large datasets.

  • Implement, test and scale state-of-the-art machine learning methods and quantitative models to address business problems

  • Participate in cross-functional projects for data driven decision making with different teams.

  • Document findings and communicate insights to relevant stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.

Requirements

What we are looking for you to bring:

Essential:

  • A strong foundation in the theoretical and practical aspects of Statistical Analysis and Data Analysis.

  • Proven experience in analysing large datasets to extract actionable insights, using statistical and machine learning techniques.

  • Good programming skills - we use R and Python for data analysis and modelling.

  • SQL proficiency and experience with Data Warehousing Technology (BigQuery is a plus).

  • Passionate about experimenting with the latest data processing, storage, and analytics technologies.

  • Excellent communication skills in English

  • Strong problem solving skills, adaptable, proactive and willing to take ownership.

  • General understanding of software engineering and web standards.

Desirable:

  • Proven experience in applying causal inference techniques in a business or research setting, demonstrating your ability to extract and communicate causal insights.

  • A background in cloud computing and how to utilise them in real use cases. Experience with Google Cloud stack preferred

  • Previous experience in health/medical/pharma domains is a plus

  • Proficiency in German is an advantage

Educations & Qualifications:

  • A PhD in a quantitative discipline (such as Maths, Physics, Computer Science, Psychology

  • In case of a Master degree (in a quantitative discipline), at least 4 years of hands-on experience as a data scientist.
