Reports: Senior Engineering Manager

The Role 

The Platform Engineering Manager (Data and Integration) is responsible for leading a team of data and integration engineers in designing, developing, and maintaining the organization’s data and Integrations infrastructure. You will use your engineering knowledge and experience to propose and develop solutions to problems throughout our product development cycle by working closely with third party service provider. This is a key role, bringing components and systems together to form a System of Systems. You will lead the date and integration of engineering across all aspects of platforms & products, covering all stages in the engineering lifecycle – from concept to delivery, managing the maturity of our engineering solutions as they develop, taking any corrective action required and ensuring high standards and good engineering governance. The Manager collaborates with cross-functional teams to implement best practices and innovative solutions in data and integrations management and analytics.

Roles and responsibilities

• Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of data and Integration engineers.
• Working with third party service provider to ensure the integrations, development and delivery to our standards.
• Provide expert knowledge on APIs and how an integration can be leveraged to achieve a desired outcome, indicating potential scenarios to consider before implementing.
• Scope integrations based on business needs, ensuring they meet high-quality standards and integration requirements from third-party providers.
• Stay updated about technology trends and tools, such as iPaaS solutions, Data engineering methods to evaluate and enhance our technology stack.
• Manage service components to ensure they meet business needs and performance targets.
• Identify process optimisation opportunities with guidance and contribute to the implementation of proposed solutions.
• Participate in the information security process.
• Proficiency in advanced data engineering tools, frameworks, and languages.
• Overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable data pipelines.
• Planning, prioritising, and managing multiple data engineering projects.
• High-quality, scalable data pipelines and ETL processes.
• Reliable and secure data storage solutions.
• Comprehensive documentation of data and Integration engineering processes and systems.
• Regular reports on data pipeline performance and data quality metrics.

Experience Required

• Ability to inspire and lead a team, fostering a positive and productive work environment. (Managerial experience is required)
• Extensive experience in leading the design and development of large-scale data and integration processing applications and infrastructure.
• Expert-level knowledge of the end-to-end data and Integration engineering process, demonstrating mastery in designing and implementing scalable solutions.
• Exceptional analytical skills with a track record of providing strategic insights and proposing innovative solutions.
• Proficiency in advanced data and Integration engineering tools, frameworks, and languages.

Qualifications/Skills

•  Educated to degree level 
•  Experience working with third party service providers
• SAFe Agile is Desirable
• Knowledge of ETL technologies and Data Virtualisation techniques across full data development Lifecycle.
• Database Management System development and administration experience
• Integrations between SaaS applications and other web services (SaaS and others)
• Relational database structures and data arrays/collections
• Web service APIs
  • authentication/authentication methods such as OAuth/HTTP basic auth/API keys
  • web services such as REST/SOAP
  • data and file formats such as XML/JSON/PDF/CSV
• iPaaS tools / solutions (Adobe Workfront Fusion, Workato, Tray.io, Integromat (now Make))
