Job Summary 

The Principal Data Architect is accountable for setting and maintaining the D&AI (Data & AI) Practice’s technical point-of-view and vision for data engineering and data management.  This is a highly visible and influential role reports to the D&AI Practice’s Offering Lead and is a critical driver in designing and delivering robust, scalable, end-to-end modern data solutions that drive customer value and support our valued client partnerships. 

Job Responsibilities  

• Architectural Design: Architect secure, scalable, highly performant data engineering and management solutions, including data warehouses, data lake, ELT / ETL and real-time data engineering / pipeline solutions.  Define and maintain Practice reference data engineering and data management architectures.  
• Vision & Strategy: Ensure Practice’s vision, strategy and point-of-view aligns with cutting-edge data engineering & management best practice technologies, patterns and philosophies.  
• Client Engagement: Regular collaboration and partnership with clients to understand their challenges and needs then translate requirements into data solutions that drive customer value.  Support proposal development. 
• Leadership: Serve as company-wide data engineering and data management SME (including delivery data architects).  Note, this is NOT a management role.  
• Collaboration: Intra and cross-practice collaboration, communication and documentation to ensure Trianz delivers industry best, data solutions to our partners and customers.
• Creativity: Be an out-of-the-box thinker and passionate about applying your skills to new and existing solutions alike while always demonstrating a customer-first mentality.
• Practice Maturity: Lead by example.  Support Practice maturity by establishing data engineering and data management CoE standards and processes.

Mandatory Qualifications 

• 12+ years hands-on data solution architecture and implementation experience on modern cloud platforms (AWS preferred) including microservice and event-driven architectures. 
• AWS Professional Solution Architect certification AND familiarity with common data-related AWS services (e.g. S3, Redshift, RDS, Glue, Lambda, EMR, Step Functions, Code Pipeline, App Flow, etc). 
• Demonstrated, hands-on experience in Snowflake and / or Databricks Engineering / Architecture. 
• Modern Data Management certification.  Either  
• Snowflake SnowPro Advanced Architect certification OR  
• Databricks accreditation(s) (AWS / Azure / GCP Platform Architect) and/or certifications (Data Engineer Professional) OR 
• Relevant experience making Snowflake and/or Databricks certification immediately achievable.   
• Practical experience with end-to-end data engineering and data management supporting functions including data modeling (conceptual, logical & physical), BI & analytics, data governance, data quality, data security / privacy / compliance, IAM, performance optimization 
• Advanced SQL and data profiling  
• Python, Scala or similar programming language 
• Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non technical users. 
• Strong, self-management skills demonstrating ability to multitask and self-manage goals and activities.

Compensation & Benefits for Fulltime Hiring.
Trianz compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay ranges between $140,000 to $170,000 USD. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
