Job Description

ARCAID is looking for a Graduate Assistant to join our AI research team to develop data science solutions. Graduate Assistants will learn to develop, train and deploy machine learning models. We're seeking a Graduate Assistant who has excellent written and verbal communication skills, a natural curiosity and continuous motivation to learn, ability to learn quickly and work independently, attention to detail and commitment to producing high quality work with a true love and interest in data.

In this role, you will gain hands-on experience working directly with a Principal Data Scientist developing complex data wrangling, curation and model development and deployment processes. You will learn how to properly frame a problem for data science applications, performing exploratory data analysis, making informed recommendations and developing and implementing cutting edge data pipeline architectures.

Responsibilities:

  • Work and learn under the direction of a Principal Data Scientist
  • Develop data preparation and curation approaches utilizing industry best practices
  • Develop and document data science workbooks, clearly articulating your approach providing assessment and conclusion
  • Translate notebooks to operational scripts, continually focused on computing optimization
  • Develop dashboards utilizing a variety of visualization tools, Plotly, Tableau and Power BI

Required Minimum Qualifications

Graduate Assistant

  • Pursuing a Master’s degree or PhD at Georgia Tech in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISYE)
  • Must have a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Proficient in Python, R and SQL
  • Understanding of natural language processing fundamental techniques to include regex, NTLK, Gensim, NER and basic word embedding approach’s (CBOW, FastText, BERT)
  • Understanding of basic applications of Machine Learning fundamentals (Logistic Regression, Decision Trees, Support Vector Machines)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completed coursework in Computer Programing Fundamental Concepts, Data Structures, Basic Machine Learning, Statistical Learning
  • Experience with Pandas, SciPy and strong familiarity with Scikit-learn
  • Experience with data, structures, preparation, curation and transformation
  • Strong understanding of database modeling (1st , 2nd and 3rd normal form)
