Job Description & Responsibilities:

This professional will join Blackstone Real Estate’s Portfolio Management team in New York to successfully deliver on critical portfolio management projects related to reporting, data analytics and technology re-engineering with the goal of driving operational efficiencies. The scope of the role includes projects across all real estate strategies (opportunistic and core+) and teams to successfully automate business processes and calculation models using modern technology & languages, such as iLevel, Python, Snowflake, Power BI and Anaplan. Due to the relatively small size of the professional staff, this professional will have the opportunity to assume an integral role on the team.  Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Working with large, complex data sets to deliver timely and accurate reporting materials to support and facilitate oversight of the global real estate portfolio
  • Coordinating and executing on quarterly, monthly and ad-hoc tasks and workstreams; developing and maintaining project timelines and management updates
  • Acting as a regional liaison between the portfolio management, technology and finance teams participating in and contributing to shared regional and global projects
  • Automating and streamlining processes, identifying opportunities for process improvements as well as documenting business requirements for reporting
  • Interacting with internal stakeholders to coordinate and synthesize data and analytics from across the global real estate portfolio
  • Executing data migration, reconciling, and validating migrated data and reports
  • Designing, building and implementing the most efficient solution based on the business requirements gathered
  • Identifying opportunities for process efficiency improvements
  • Driving and coordinating user testing activities and providing training to end users
  • Training, coordinating and working directly with offshore teams
  • Acting as a system “super user” helping others to leverage systems more effectively and establishing best practices
  • Consulting with Blackstone’s portfolio companies to identify synergies and advise on process improvement initiatives

Qualifications:

Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who excel in a team-based environment, and are highly motivated and with excellent judgment. In addition to strong analytical, technical and project management skills, the successful candidate must have: 

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Mathematics, or related fields
  • 3+ years of relevant professional experience in business process automation, business analysis, project management and / or business modeling functions; real estate or private equity experience is strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Portfolio reporting systems (i.e., iLevel)
    • Property management systems (i.e., Argus Enterprise, Yardi)
    • Debt management systems (i.e., Chatham Financial)
    • Financial reporting and analysis tools (i.e., Anaplan)
    • Data visualization and BI tools (i.e., Tableau, Power BI, etc.)
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills, with the ability to multitask and deliver under tight deadlines; the candidate should be a self-starter that thrives on complexity and solution finding
  • Intermediate programming skills and experience preferred (i.e., Python, SQL or VBA) and willingness to learn expected
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel and PowerPoint specifically); the candidate is expected to have experience building and working with large volumes of data (Pivots, V- Lookups, nested statements, etc.)
  • The ability to effectively work as an individual contributor and possess strong analytical, problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills
  • Experience building and working with large data validation files (Pivots, V-Lookups) as well as experience building macros
  • A demonstrated ability to write and communicate effectively and summarize large amounts of information succinctly
  • A desire to work in an international team environment, often under competing deadlines and with multiple stakeholders
  • A high level of attention to detail, resourcefulness and ability to work autonomously
  • The highest degree of professional integrity, motivation, and intellectual curiosity

Expected annual base salary range:

$160,000 - $185,000

Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.

Additional compensation: Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits offered in connection with the advertised role.
