Job Title: Associate, Application Engineer

Job Duties: Support all phases of the software development and infrastructure development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, system development, security review, testing, implementation and production support for services and applications to scale system operations. Design and develop core distributed systems and cloud computing infrastructure, including Cassandra, Solr, Docker, Kubernetes, Azure, and AWS. Develop and support tools, frameworks, languages, and core libraries. Create a data science platform that would help end-users run their custom analytics, including big data platforms like Spark. Create internal platforms and tooling to deploy software and infrastructure to commercial cloud platforms. Design and develop frameworks to handle high velocity market data streams and complex event processing. Build different components of the distributed compute engine that retrieves, transforms, loads, and distributes complex, unstructured/structured reference data into Aladdin, while architecting a scalable, fault-tolerant, and highly available system. Contribute to the open API platform to enable clients to integrate Aladdin into their enterprise. Lead solution and process engineering for given technology or functional areas, providing regular project updates to leadership. Apply knowledge of Large Language Models (LLMs) and Vector databases.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any), or a related field and two (2) years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst; Infrastructure DevOps Engineer; or a related role. Two (2) years of experience with: Utilizing operating systems including Linux; Utilizing cloud infrastructure as code including Terraform and ARM templates; Creating continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines including Azure DevOps; Working with programming languages including Python, Java, C++, Docker, Bash, and Perl; Utilizing Agile development methodologies; Working in the financial services industry; Utilizing database technologies including MSSQL; Executing cloud networking technologies including load balancers and private endpoints in Azure; Designing highly available, scalable, secure, and resilient systems for large enterprise usage; Containerizing applications and deploying them on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) infrastructure, and building and deploying AKS and associated infrastructure; Utilizing middleware technologies including FIX, SWIFT, MQ, and Kafka; Utilizing application support technologies including NGINX and Apache; and Utilizing Big Data concepts and technologies including Cassandra and NoSQL.

For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $145,900 - $157,500. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
