Job Description

Radar Perception Technical Lead is an individual contributor position with strong technical leadership focus and is a key enabler for the success of Radar Perception organization.

The role has the following accountability

  • Develop and maintain technical program roadmap for Radar Perception
    • Definition of “what" and “when” to deliver
    • Translation from customer use cases into development plans
    • Balance among competing engineering needs
  • Define and drive development plans of key program products
  • Be accountable for high-quality, at-cost, and on-time deliveries
  • Oversee major priority and technical decisions to support development teams to secure long-term program roadmap
  • Follow emerging technology development in related domain and define integration plan
  • Remove external road blocks for engineering teams to enable on-time delivery of results
  • Manage and support external partners working with development teams
  • Comply with applicable policies and processes
  • Represent Radar Perception as the first point of contact towards Aptiv project teams
  • Manage Program budget & capital planning

The role will work closely with the following roles

  • Product Manager to refine product roadmap considering technical feasibility and cross-product alignment, etc.
  • Project Manager to secure project targets in terms of content, quality, timing and cost
  • Project Manager to plan project budget & capital investment
  • Line Manager to integrate engineering resource staffing into development teams
  • Line Manager to attract and recruit new talents 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor or MSc degree in engineering
  • Strong team-play spirit
  • Servant leadership and leadership experience
  • Methodical approach to problem solving
  • Technical knowledge in related fields
  • Preferred prior experience in automotive industry
  • Commitment to ongoing projects and continuous improvements
  • Experience from project management field would be a plus

Area of responsibility:

  • Working in one of the Scrum teams on perception algorithms development
  • Defining perception solution roadmap and leading technical discussions
  • Evaluation and evolution of our market-leading perception software solutions
  • Investigation and adaptation of latest development in technology and methodology into our solution stack
  • Leading Proof of Concept studies on new methods and algorithms
  • Development and integration of algorithms in C++ and Python
  • Quality assurance via design, requirement and comprehensive verification and validation according to Aptiv process and industry standards
  • Continuous improvement of supporting factors, e.g., simulation tools and testing environment
  • Define use-cases and test scenarios in regular data collection and vehicle testing activities
  • Troubleshooting and issue resolution for ongoing programs and projects
  • Interaction with system & testing teams, customers and project management

Required education or other training/alternative equal experience

  • Master or PhD degree in Control Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or equivalent qualification

Needed experience, describe type of competence area for the experience, what type of previous positions needed, length of experience etc, depth of skills

  • Minimum 3 years of ADAS/AD algorithm development experience.
  • Hands-on experience on AI/ML, ideally in ADAS/AD domain.
  • Proficiency in radar perception software, radar signal processing and/or statistics.
  • Solid understanding of ADAS feature function expectations, scenario-based evaluation and testing of ADAS algorithm.
  • Good experience in C/C++ programming, MATLAB and/or Python
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to learn.
  • Excellent communication, team work & social skills, goal-oriented and structured way of working.
  • Experience in NCAP and GSR requirements and associated system components/modules.
  • Fluent in English written and verbally.

Specific competences/other skills needed for the position:

  • Experience in handling different radar phenomenon
  • Experience in automotive standards, e.g., A-Spice and ISO26262
  • Experience in embedded software development
  • Experience working with GIT/Gerrit/Jenkins, Jira or similar
  • Knowledge in automotive communication protocols (CAN, FlexRay, Ethernet etc.)
  • Previous Start of Production (SOP) experience of ADAS projects
