As a Senior Data Scientist, you will be responsible for driving data-driven strategies, performing advanced analytics, and delivering key insights that influence business decisions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including key stakeholders, to build predictive models, conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA), and apply cutting-edge machine learning techniques to solve complex problems.

Key responsibilities:

Stakeholder Engagement, Leadership and Strategy

  • Partner with key business stakeholders to understand their data needs and challenges, including regular communication to gather requirements, present findings and insights, and collaborate on analysis strategy 
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior data scientists and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
  • Implement data science projects from conceptualization to deployment.
  • Support identification of valuable opportunities across the organisation, prioritise development and evolve existing solutions to meet the changing needs of the business
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and AI to identify innovative solutions and experiments

Data Exploration, Analysis and Modelling

  • Perform exploratory data analysis to understand data distributions, spot trends, and identify anomalies or patterns
  • Use statistical methods and visualisation tools to summarize key insights from data.
  • Clean, preprocess, and prepare datasets for advanced modelling and analysis.
  • Design and develop predictive models using machine learning techniques (e.g., regression, classification, clustering).
  • Apply advanced statistical techniques, such as hypothesis testing, A/B testing, and time series forecasting.
  • Build recommendation engines, optimisation tools, and other decision-making algorithms.
  • Regularly evaluate model performance and iterate to improve accuracy and efficiency.

 

Key Skills & Attributes:

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and machine learning algorithms.
  • Advanced knowledge of feature engineering and dimensionality reduction techniques
  • Advanced knowledge of confidence intervals and significance testing
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and experience with MLOps

Soft Skills

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to understand business needs and explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Autonomy in planning and implementation.
  • Ability to research and implement complex algorithms and techniques.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with NLP, computer vision, or deep learning techniques.
  • Experience in deploying machine learning models to production environments.
  • Familiarity with Azure cloud and MS Fabric.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.

Key experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in data science or related analytics roles.
  • Proven experience leading data science projects from conception to production.
  • Experience working with complex datasets, advanced EDA, and ML modelling.
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating with and managing relationships with diverse stakeholders.
