Salary:           £90,000 - £110,000 FTE
Contract:       6–9-month FTC, 5 days per week

The Curriculum team plans, builds and maintains industry-leading programmes. We build training content that changes lives. The content we build is engaging, interactive, and cutting-edge, using modern training tools and creative approaches to content development. The content we build supports Operations, Marketing, Sales and Compliance and is fundamental to the success of the business as a whole.

The role:
As our Data Engineering Content Creator, you will build industry-leading training content relating to data engineering. You will drive the planning and build of data engineering training content that can be delivered at scale for maximum real-world impact, supporting and directed by the Director of Data Engineering Curriculum. This is your opportunity to join a high-performing curriculum team and work collaboratively to build programmes used by numerous professionals, supporting their development. Responsibilities include:
  • Drive the build of the data engineering programme
  • Support the build and maintenance of other data and digital training products where appropriate
  • Write engaging, interactive and concise eLearning content that has real business impact, and gets learners to End-Point Assessment on time with minimal dropouts
  • Work collaboratively with the digital team to design and continuously improve our suite of high quality, interactive workshops
  • Plan first-class audio and video content and work with our AV team to produce it
  • Collate high-quality, targeted further learning/reading lists for each module
  • Quickly and thoroughly research new topics in order to produce cutting-edge professional content 
  • Ensure our existing programmes continue to meet all the requirements of the Apprenticeship Standard
  • Continuously improve all aspects of the programmes in light of learner, PDE, employer and end-point-assessment organisation (EPAO) feedback
  • Produce and maintain programme guides, templates and supporting documentation to support learners and Professional Development Experts
  • Supporting the upskilling of Professional Development Experts to deliver the programme
  • Work closely and collaboratively with all relevant stakeholders, such as those in the teams of Curriculum, Assessment, Marketing and Operations
  • Work effectively with external stakeholders as directed
  • Ability to collaboratively work with other Directors of Curriculum on other programmes both current and future
  • Follow the Curriculum Team actions and responsibilities (i.e. the three key curriculum team aspects: build content, communicate well, and complete admin, all on-time and high-quality)

Experience and Skills:
Essential:
  • Expert-level industry experience with data engineering
  • Expert-level industry experience with data engineering concepts, including but not limited to:
    • Data storage
    • Data ingestion
    • Data modelling
    • Data transformation / pipelines
    • Data quality monitoring
    • DataOps
    • Data governance
    • Cloud computing
    • Understanding of data science and analytics concepts
  • Expert-level industry experience with data engineering tool usage, including but not limited to:
    • Microsoft Azure
    • SQL
    • Python
    • Key Apache tools (Spark, Kafka etc)
    • Docker
    • Industry-leading ETL tools
    • Practical data warehousing
  • Strong experience with AWS
  • Strong familiarity with GCP and Snowflake
  • Experience creating labs and virtual machines
  • Experience writing data engineering training content
  • Experience delivering data engineering training

Desirable:
  • Engages in personal data/digital projects
  • Engages in data/digital meetups/groups/conferences
  • Masters/PhD in STEM subject with coding aspect included
  • Experience teaching, particularly in higher education
  • Experience with Java, Scala, Bash, Linux
  • Teaching/coaching qualifications
  • Data engineering qualifications (especially Azure and AWS)
  • Experience of delivering data apprenticeships (level 4+ desirable)
  • Detailed knowledge of End-Point Assessment (experience of having successfully taken a cohort of learners through EPA desirable)
