Job Type Full-time Description

Primary purpose: Provides consulting, design, training, analytic and development services to Lantana’s client, CDC’s National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN). Supports database management and data set analysis for novel digital quality measures (dQMs) for patient safety and public-health surveillance. Uses analytical skills and public-health knowledge to provide actionable insights for Lantana’s clients.


A successful candidate will:

  • Access and analyze complex data from various sources.
  • Conduct analyses in SAS and R or Python; interpret, summarize, and present findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Manipulate datasets and perform quality checks on analytic deliverables. 
  • Collaborate to plan, develop, and implement projects and materials. 
  • Communicate analytic advice and statistical methodology to clients, management, and staff.
  • Analyze and understand client needs and translate them into formal requirements.
  • Provide results to the project team and clients both verbally and in writing, in technical language or plain language as appropriate for the audience. 
  • Perform data-quality checks, develop materials, review documentation, troubleshoot issues, and report results.
  • Test application(s) and provide feedback to software developers and quality-assurance technicians.
  • Maintain public-health expertise and stay abreast of industry changes and trends.
  • Develop and deliver trainings, project updates, and presentations on NHSN work.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least nine (9) years of relevant experience in Statistics, Epidemiology, Public Health, or related field; or Master’s degree and at least seven (7) years of relevant experience
  • Experience using SAS to import data, manipulate data and data sets, and conduct analyses regarding evaluation of data quality and accuracy
  • Experience using R or Python
  • Experience managing large data sets, moving and merging data files from different platforms, cleaning and aggregating data, and performing quality control
  • Experience with quality-assurance testing or user-acceptance testing involving healthcare data
  • Attention to detail and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to successfully complete a Position of Public Trust Level 5 background investigation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics, Mathematics, or related field
  • Experience importing a variety of data types (including XML, JSON, CSV, and XLSX) into SAS
  • Experience working with healthcare data sets, including standards for healthcare terminology (such as LOINC, SNOMED, and RxNorm) and clinical concepts
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with large dataset analysis for CDC, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, or other public-health entity
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with clinical workflow concepts, public health, or healthcare delivery Knowledge of and/or experience with clinical-workflow concepts, public health, or healthcare delivery

Salary Description $90,000 - $110,000
