The Digital Solutions team at ICF manages the Digital Global Goods, Data Exchange, and Interoperability (DATIM) portfolio under the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) program. The team supports and manages several initiatives and mission critical activities in the areas of data exchange and interoperability to meet PEPFAR’s needs. Specifically, ICF supports the creation of interoperable systems that allow for the exchange of HIV monitoring, evaluation, and reporting data between PEPFAR-supported countries and PEPFAR headquarters. Through these activities, we develop foundational tools, guidance, and digital software to support data exchange and interoperability.

This is a full-time, 10-week internship expected to start in early June 2025. The work may be fully remote from any U.S. location or hybrid from our Rockville, MD office. At this time, we are unable to provide relocation nor housing assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Digital Solutions team to develop and implement generative AI models for analyzing qualitative data.
  • Assist in preprocessing and cleaning qualitative datasets to ensure data quality and consistency.
  • Apply natural language processing (NLP) techniques to extract meaningful insights from text data.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions to identify new applications of AI and machine learning to support PEPFAR meet mission critical needs.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (with an anticipated graduation of August 2025 or later)

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (with an anticipated graduation of August 2025 or later)
  • Strong understanding of generative AI models, such as GPT, Copilot, and their applications
  • Experience with NLP techniques and tools
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$37,154.00 - $76,425.00
