Position Summary

Atlanta United Football Club is looking to add a detail-oriented, methodical, and collaborative Data Engineer to our growing team. As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role in the organization and management of information for our Club. This role will involve maintaining and building ETL pipelines to efficiently store internal and external data in an easily accessible fashion. The person in this role will also assist in the maintenance of the club’s current web applications and help build additional tools to assist members across the Technical Department. This position will engage in collaboration with the Analytics, Scouting, and Sports Science departments, alongside the First Team coaching staff.

We seek an individual who wants to be a part of a truly integrated high-performance team. The position is based in Marietta, Georgia and will require minimal domestic travel with occasional opportunities to travel international.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Providing expertise in data storage structures, data mining, and data cleansing.
  • Making data architecture decisions, handling outside vendor data, building and optimizing ETL processes for both internal and external data.
  • Ensuring that data is stored in an accessible manner.
  • Leading the management and administration of a Microsoft SQL Server database.
  • Maintaining Microsoft Azure containers
  • Architecting data storage solutions to efficiently store information in an accessible fashion to help drive down time to insight.
  • Helping implement and maintain web applications to enhance research and decision-making across Soccer Operations.
  • Creating and following processes to keep data confidential.
  • Contributing to the implementation of a comprehensive soccer information database.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating package in R.
  • Collaborate with Data Scientist on ad-hoc analysis and projects for the Scouting Department and Coaching Staff.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field preferred, or demonstrated experience.
  • Experience working with a Cloud solution (Microsoft Azure preferred)
  • Experience with SQL / PostgreSQL Databases.
  • Experience with Version Control and package management in GitHub.
