Summary:

The Director, Data and Analytics Architecture is part of the Global Data and Analytics team at SC Johnson. In this role, you will lead our Data and Analytics Architecture team to meet the growing need for data and analytics services and products. You will make business data intuitive, reliable, and easy to use. You will lead a team of experts focused on designing and implementing data architecture solutions to collect, connect, and deliver data and insights for our business customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the enterprise-wide data and analytics architecture strategy, aligning with business goals and technology initiatives.
  • Lead the design and architecture of scalable and secure data solutions on Azure and Databricks platforms.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on Azure data services (e.g., Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory) and Databricks, guiding the team on best practices, optimization, and innovation.
  • Ensure the architecture supports advanced analytics, including AI/ML models, real-time data processing, and complex data transformations.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Data Engineering, Data Science, engineering, and business units, to understand data needs and deliver robust architecture solutions.
  • Engage with executive leadership to communicate the value and impact of data architecture initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain data governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive data quality, security, and privacy initiatives across the data landscape.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of architects.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the team, keeping abreast of the latest trends and technologies in data and analytics.
  • Oversee the execution of key data architecture projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within the data architecture domain.
  • Drive the adoption of emerging technologies and methodologies that can enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the data architecture.

Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or related field.    
  • 10+ years of experience in data and analytics, with 5+ in a leadership role.
  • 3+ years of experience working with Azure cloud services, specifically Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, and Databricks.
  • 5+ years of experience as Data Architect with strong understanding of data architecture principles, data modeling, ETL processes, and data governance
  • 5+ years of experience with data modeling skills including strong foundation in data warehousing concepts, data normalization, dimensional data modeling, OLAP or data vault.

Preferred Skills / Experience / Competencies:

  • Working knowledge of master data management systems (MDM), experience in data warehouse and MDM integration.
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing large-scale data architectures.
  • Strong understanding of data quality management principles and practices.
  • Sound knowledge of data governance key functional areas like MDM, data catalog and data quality
  • Experience working with different SAP platforms like SAP ECC, SAP PLM, S/4HANA etc.
  • Partner and collaborate effectively across multiple team members in multiple time zones.
  • Ability to ask questions effectively with our business partners that lead to deeper understanding of the business problem.
  • Able to negotiate and adapt to changing situations and audiences.

  • Eligible for remote work one day a week
  • This role is eligible for domestic relocation
