What is the position? 
Cognosante is seeking a Data Scientist with a proven track record of leveraging data to drive actionable insights and optimize business outcomes. The Data Scientist will apply expertise in data analysis, machine learning, and statistical modeling to design and implement solutions that tackle complex challenges and uncover opportunities for improvement across diverse IT projects. This role is 100% remote.
 
What will I get to do?  

  •  Meet with clients or management to understand data requirements and needs.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data engineers and business analysts, to define data requirements and ensure data-driven decision-making.

  • Develop and refine data collection strategies to ensure the availability of high-quality, relevant data for analysis.

  • Employ advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to analyze large datasets, identify patterns, and develop predictive models that support data-driven decision-making.

  • Design and implement rigorous evaluation frameworks to assess the effectiveness of operating programs and business processes, utilizing both qualitative and quantitative data.

  • Transform complex data into clear and compelling visualizations that effectively communicate insights and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels.

  • Identify opportunities to enhance business processes through data-driven analysis, proposing and implementing solutions that improve efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Maintain detailed documentation for data engineering processes and best practices.

  • Develop best practice, processes, and standards for effectively carrying out data strategy activities.


 
What qualifications do I need? 

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of IT experience

  • Master's or Ph.D. in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related discipline (or 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education)

  • Proficiency in Python, R, or other relevant programming languages for data analysis and machine learning.

  • Strong understanding of various machine learning algorithms and techniques, with hands-on experience in their application.

  • Proficiency in utilizing data visualization tools and techniques to communicate complex information in a clear and impactful manner.

  • Demonstrated ability to approach complex problems with a structured and analytical mindset.

  • Experience with AWS cloud offerings (S3, Redshift, etc.)

  • Strong knowledge of SQL and database management systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, or NoSQL databases).

  • Must be able to achieve a moderate (Tier 2) VA position of trust.

 
What additional characteristics will help me thrive?  

  • Familiarity with healthcare and supply chain inventory data and supply chain industry-specific challenges.

  • Familiarity with client specific solution components, such as Databricks, Talend, etc.

  • Automated Engineering Management System/Medical Equipment Reporting System (AEMS/MERS), Equipment/Turn-In Request (EQUIP), Maximo Enterprise Asset and Work Management System (EAWM), Point of Use Family of Systems (PoU FoS), Real Time Location Systems (RTLS), and Strategic Equipment Planning Guide (SEPG)/Enterprise Equipment Request (EER) experience a plus

  • Experience working in the Federal Government, Veteran's Administration (VA) experience a plus

  • Active clearance for Public Trust Position

Compensation

$96,760.98 - $154,817.56

The pay range for this job is determined by various factors, including but not necessarily limited to location, responsibilities of the job, and alignment with market data. When determining a salary for this role, the following factors may be taken into consideration - contract-specific affordability, education, knowledge, skills, competencies and experience. The estimate displayed represents the salary range for this position and is just one component of Cognosante’s total compensation package for employees. It is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, nor a promise of any specific pay for any specific employee.
