About the role

The Data Governance Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring that the organization's data is accurate, consistent, secure, and compliant with relevant regulations. This position involves implementing and maintaining data governance policies, managing data quality, and supporting data stewardship across the organization. The Data Governance Analyst works closely with various business units, IT teams, and data owners to promote best practices in data management and to support the effective use of data for decision-making and reporting.

Key responsibilities include monitoring data quality, maintaining data catalogs and metadata, ensuring compliance with data governance policies, and collaborating with stakeholders to resolve data-related issues. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, possesses strong analytical skills, and has a deep understanding of data governance principles and practices. They are committed to continuous improvement and play a vital role in safeguarding the integrity and reliability of the organization’s data assets.

Roles and Responsibilities 

  • Support the enforcement of data governance standards and procedures across the organization and contribute to the education efforts on the topic.

  • Assess and improve the quality, accuracy, and consistency of data as the data governance platform is implemented.

  • Manage and update data catalogs and metadata documentation and assist the different business units understand the data they own.

  • Assist data stewards across the organization in managing and governing data effectively.

  • Ensure adherence to data regulations and industry standards to ensure company compliance requirements are met.

  • Enforce data access controls and collaborate on data security measures.

  • Produce reports on data quality, compliance, and governance metrics and disseminate them across the company to increase awareness and drive the Data Governance Program..

  • Work with various teams to understand data needs and resolve issues.

  • Provide input on data governance requirements for new projects.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in data governance or a related field.

  • Experience working on technology related projects

  • Good communication skills, understanding of change management and performance measurement.

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Data Analytics/Informatics, or a related field.
