About the Role
Sellers Dorsey is seeking a Vice President of Data Analytics and Visualization Support Services who will be responsible to set strategy and policy with the Managing Director and the VP of Data Analytics and Visualization (technical lead) which will position and enable Sellers Dorsey to achieve their strategic goal of  developing new data analytic product and client services, expanding custom client work, and creating analytic dashboards and reports to support the work of the internal Sellers Dorsey team (e.g., consulting, finance, operations). The additional purpose of this job is to lead and directly manage employees and contractors in the department including statisticians, analysts, actuaries, health economists, researchers and data governance teams, and internal cross-functional teams working on data analytic and visualization projects. This position is responsible to provide health and healthcare subject matter expertise across a wide range of provider, payer and regulatory topics and trends, data quality and integrity methodologies and standards, statistical methodologies and health services research techniques for the department staff and cross-functional project teams.
Key Responsibilities 
  • Set strategy and policy with the Managing Director and the VP of Data Analytics and Visualization (technical lead) to move Sellers Dorsey closer to achieving their strategic goal of developing data analytic products and services for their clients, expanding custom analytic and visualization engagements and designing and developing custom analytic and visualizations for the internal Sellers Dorsey team.
  • Use their subject matter expertise to lead and directly manage teams conducting research and capturing product and consulting engagement requirements from clients, internal team and other stakeholders.
  • Lead and manage teams in the identification and evaluation of public and proprietary data sources. Provide subject matter expertise and direct management to the data analytic (statisticians, health economists, actuaries, health services researchers, data governance and measurement specialist) and visualization teams and other stakeholders about data quality, governance, definitions and measure calculations and analytics like risk-adjustment, predictive analytics and economic and clinical impact (for example) of financing and quality, access and equity initiatives.
  • Collaborate and serve as a subject matter expert to the data visualization design and development teams to ensure the optimal selection and arrangement of data elements on dashboard, reports, infographics, tools and applications. And collaborate on the optimal functionality of all products and client deliverables.
  • Stay current and maintain expertise in reimbursement arrangements like value-based care and  national and state payment financing mechanisms that will inform the design and functionality of products and services. Stay current and maintain in other regulatory reporting requirements that may require updates and enhancements to products and services. 
  • Responsible to help and identify RFPs and opportunities, and decisions about which opportunities to pursue. Provide support to the sales and marketing teams to ensure potential client needs are fully heard and understood and that Sellers Dorsey data analytics products and services are expertly explained. Collaborate with the proposal development team to develop responses to RFPs. Collaborate with Legal to ensure Agreements are compliant and project teams are compliant with contractual requirements.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to cross-functional project teams.
  • Collaborate and provide expertise to establish and manage internal data governance and analytic and visualization policies and procedures. Monitor adherence and undertake remediation as may be required to ensure compliance.
Key Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Health, Healthcare, Population Health, Quality and Outcomes, Health Analytics or related field. PhD in health services research or health related field is preferred.
  • 15-20 combined years in health and healthcare systems – public, provider, payers.
  • A fundamental understanding about the capabilities of Tableau or other visualization applications like Power BI, statistical software applications like SAS and R, machine learning, natural language processing, artificial intelligence and other emerging technology is required.
  • Knowledge of public health and other surveys, healthcare administrative and clinical taxonomies and databases, electronic health records and other clinical and administrative transactional systems, clinical data registries and publicly available datasets.
  • Experience and expertise in conducting literature searches and evaluating research and study publications about a wide range of topics like, health quality and outcomes, health economics, artificial intelligence AI, novel statistical techniques and translating them into plain language for a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated knowledge about health and healthcare trends including innovations in care delivery and reimbursement and emerging technologies and the ability to provide critical insights about them and how they may impact the industry.
  • A proven track-record of designing and implementing clinical, financial and operational data analytic and reporting systems.
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques like risk-adjustment and predictive analytics and measure calculations like per member per month (PMPM), case mix index (CMI), odds ratios, relative risk (for example). Experience assessing the validity of statistical models.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience managing competing priorities. 
  • Proven expertise in developing and managing relationships, both internal and external. 
  • Ability to work effectively with internal experts and business units to expand the firm’s reputation and recognition and highlight the expertise and experience of the firm’s talented team is preferred.

  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills, plus the ability to facilitate negotiations in complex situations. Strong interpersonal and communication skills including a proven ability to ensure and reflect to  all stakeholders that they are fully heard and understood.

Compensation & Benefits 
The anticipated salary range for candidates is $180,000/year in our lowest geographic market range to up to $225,000/year in our highest geographic market range. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry, the candidate’s education, and the candidate’s market location. Typically, candidates are not hired near the top of the range and compensation decisions are made based upon Sellers Dorsey’s Total Compensation Policies & Guidelines. The successful candidate will also be eligible to participate in our annual Corporate Incentive Plan (CIP) that can range to up to 20% of annual salary. 
Provided they meet all eligibility requirements under the applicable plan documents, the successful candidate (and their eligible dependents) will be eligible to enroll in group healthcare plans that offer medical, dental, and vision and for insurance plans offering short-term disability, long term disability, and basic life. Employees are also able to enroll in Sellers Dorsey’s 401k plan provided they meet plan requirements.  Sellers Dorsey offers a Flexible Time Off that allows employees to use what they need. Additionally, we offer 10 paid holidays throughout the calendar year, paid time off for qualifying medical leave, and up to 12 weeks of combined paid parental and bonding leave. The foregoing benefits and paid time off, including an employee’s eligibility therefore, will be controlled by applicable plan documents and Sellers Dorsey policy.
