Insights Analysis Senior Specialist, Operational Data Strategy

The Operational Data Strategy function sits within Clinical Data and Insights. This overall group is within R&D Biopharmaceutical Clinical Operations. The Operational Data Strategy function is responsible for the strategic oversight on the collection, organisation, validation, and analysis of operational data, combining advanced database and system capabilities with innovative data science methodologies to visualise data-driven decision making.

The Insights Analysis Senior Specialist will be reporting to Director, Operational Data Intelligence. The role will drive and lead the analysis of data to support enabling processes through the identification, analysis and interpretation of trends or patterns and prepare ongoing reports and data visualizations to aid in complex data storytelling. The role will be leading the creation, maintenance, and improvement of a business reporting suite and will be involved in exploratory and predictive analytics. The role will operate under minimal supervision and will provide coaching, task management and support to junior analysts promoting best practice across the function.

Typical Accountabilities

• Coordinate the implementation of analytical and data visualization solutions designed to drive the interrogation of datasets for insights in scientific and business application areas.
• Employ the use of dedicated business intelligence applications and/or cloud services.
• Develop solutions to business and analytics challenges using established frameworks and tools.
• Build and manage effective relationships with a range of stakeholders to ensure utilization and value of information resources and services.  Clearly and objectively communicate results, as well as their associated uncertainties and limitations.
• Provide expertise in exploratory, descriptive and predictive data analytics to cross-functional projects and shape delivery of solutions that drive business value.
• Develop visualizations and tools to support and deliver innovative and complex analytical solutions.
• Develop and apply ongoing knowledge and awareness in trends, standard methodology and new developments in analytics to shape solutions.
• Review and develop working practices to ensure that work is delivered to robust quality standards within defined scope.
• Provide training and advice to collaborators on optimal use of key data and analysis.

Essential

• Master’s degree in computer science, data analysis, other relevant discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated expert knowledge of data analytics and visualization tools such as Power Bi, Spotfire, Python.
• Familiarity with database systems (e.g. SQL, NoSQL).
• Demonstrated experience in developing complex data analysis in business and scientific domains.
• Experience working in Agile.
• Experience with UX/UI design.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, fluent English.

Desirable

• Comfortable with ETL, cloud environment.
• Understanding of data & analytics governance principles.
• Software development skills.
• Experience working with Clinical Operations.
• Understanding of data science.
