Job Description

At our company, we are committed to becoming the premier, research-intensive biopharmaceutical company and are dedicated to providing leading innovations and solutions for today and the future.

Our Research Scientists are our Inventors. We identify and target steps in disease mechanisms or pathways that could be inhibited or enhanced. Our goal is to isolate a compound that is effective against a disease target. Using innovative thinking, state-of-the-art facilities and robust scientific methodology we collaborate to discover the next medical breakthrough.

We are seeking a Senior Scientist to join our Biomarkers & Data Analytics team at our research laboratory in Singapore. Our team focuses on synergizing medical and disease biology, imaging & omics technology, bigdata, and data science to discover, develop, and deploy novel biomarkers for diseases with critical unmet needs, and to accelerate the discovery and development of new drugs.

As a Senior Scientist, you will be responsible for both independent and collaborative work within a team setting to develop advanced AI-ML-based medical imaging analytics using large biobank datasets and clinical data. This work will support the deployment and validation of imaging biomarkers for cardiometabolic and neurological diseases. You will collaborate closely with colleagues, key stakeholders, and external research institutes and CROs to build, evaluate, and qualify image analytics tools for generating impactful data-driven insights and translatable biomarkers to enable decision-making in drug development programs. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to learn from industry experts, gain exposure to a research-driven enterprise, and utilize your passion, creativity, knowledge, and collaboration skills to find solutions to challenging problems.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Design, develop and validate innovative AI-enabled medical image analytics pipelines to support the deployment of imaging biomarkers for drug discovery and development.

  • Generate key biomarker data driven insights through the development and deployment of novel AI-ML based analytical pipelines that enable efficient data mining of big biobank datasets.

  • Design and implement innovative computational models for deriving parametric maps from medical images. Perform rigorous validation of the biomarkers with various test cases.

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to design and execute imaging experiments and plans

  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on project progress and findings. Attend and potentially present at relevant conferences, demonstrating a commitment to professional growth and knowledge expansion.

  • Present research results to clinical and discovery teams, including writing manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals.

  • Recommend changes in the direction or emphasis of original research approaches. Original ideas and concepts, creative thinking, and their implementation are expected at this level.

  • Proactively suggest new research ideas, show creative thinking, and propose changes to research approaches as needed.

  • Maintain data integrity and compliance by managing the data lifecycle, accurate record-keeping, and authoring documentation including image analysis workflows (e.g., SOP, QA/QC plan), research reports, project meeting minutes, and study logs.

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • PhD or Master’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of research experience in Engineering, Computational Sciences, or Biomedical/Life Sciences, with a focus on research in medical image analysis.

  • Hands-on research experience in implementing AI-based medical image analysis pipeline using languages like MATLAB, Python, or R; including scikit-learn, pytorch, tensorflow tools is required.

  • Hands-on research experience involving large scale imaging datasets (e.g., MRI, CT etc.) from Biobanks (e.g., UK Biobank) or cohort  studies is highly advantageous.

  • Proficiency in data analytics, visualization and interpretation using Python (seaborn, matplotlib) or R (ggplot2, corrplot) is required.

  • Experience as a software engineer in software development, specifically in medical image processing, and as a full stack developer with proficiency in Python, Java, and JavaScript would be advantageous.

  • Knowledge in cardiometabolic disease and/or neuroscience disease biology is highly desired.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and strong time management skills to meet challenging study timelines.

  • Ability to learn drug research and disease biology and develop appropriate imaging biomarker solutions to overcome challenges associated with drug discovery and development.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Self-inspired and enthusiastic team player capable of working in a highly collaborative, cross-functional working environment.

  • An individual who possesses a positive, proactive attitude and embodies a growth mindset.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:

  • Opportunity to work at the interface of multiple disciplines and integrate medical and disease biology, imaging and novel technologies, bigdata/biobanks and AI-ML/data science.

  • Collaboration with a team committed to leveraging AI/ML for drug development.

  • Opportunities for applying your innovative mindset to experiment with new ideas and approaches.

  • A supportive working environment that fosters career growth and continuous learning.

Additional Information:

  • Please provide a LinkedIn profile, publications in conferences/journals, or any relevant profiles (Google Scholar, Github, Stack Overflow, Arxiv, and/or Kaggle) if available.
