Imagine the mobility of tomorrow

Picture yourself in an exciting industry where the future revolves around leading-edge electrified and self-driving cars seamlessly integrated into people's daily lives. But how can we create this future in a way that is both safe and sustainable? This is just one of the inspiring questions we're working to solve here at Volvo Cars. Join us and watch your ideas shape the future of mobility.

Data Management and Platform - Let’s introduce ourselves

In modern vehicle development and especially for safety related functions, data plays an important role when doing initial insights, development, and continuous improvements after launch. The large amounts of data that are required for vehicle development need effective processing and management to generate great products that provide a safe journey for our customers and are attractive to buy.

Our organization provides value to the development teams by processing, organizing, and governing data. Are you interested in playing and important role for development of Data Management systems we have a new opportunity for you.

What you’ll do

The functions we develop shall simplify and govern the usage of data. This requires designing systems and interfaces, and ensuring they are implemented and deployed for stable, long-time usage. The focus should be much on automation to ensure consistent behavior and to allow usage when our customers have the need.

Our systems mostly use Python and are deployed either in our on-prem data center or in cloud environment. Since we are part of a large organization the systems need to consider different users and interface with both Volvo Cars internal, and our partners systems. After deployment we operate our own systems and monitor usage.

What you’ll bring

We believe that you are an experienced software engineer who has practical experience from all parts of the development lifecycle. As a senior engineer you guide others not only in software development but also in other aspects of software engineering that contribute to structured ways of working, quality standards, and long-term sustainability.

You communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to get others involved and clarify how to do things. You are strong in designing SW components and interfaces and create clear documentation for your team and others involved in the complete solution.

You have senior level experience in Python, code practices and design patterns. You work equally good on cloud (we mostly use Azure) as well as in on-prem environment with distributed computing. To ensure a good development and operations environment you understand and guide others in hosting (container solutions, Kubernetes), preparing and using different deployment environments, CI/CD techniques, monitoring, and troubleshooting. You are skilled in API development and have experience with interfacing databases (SQL) and the structures of data needed to develop your systems.

Our systems process data for vehicle development. We value competence in data management (including data governance), data lifecycle, and big data processing.

You probably have started with a M.Sc. degree in Software Engineering or gained similar experience. Good knowledge in English language, both spoken and written, is required for the role.
