The Opportunity 

Ulteig is seeking a Computational Design / BIM Manager to develop and implement advanced BIM and computational design methods, tools, and workflows for Renewable Energy projects. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Revit MEP, coupled with computational design techniques and programming.

*Experience in electrical engineering, data centers, power, or infrastructure sector preferred, not required.

 

What You Will Do

SOFTWARE

  • Drive and manage adoption and use of Autodesk Revit software including latest version releases and customization of the product deployments.
  • Drive and manage adoption and use of supporting software and automations for project delivery.
  • Evaluate new project delivery related software and technologies to enhance productivity and project performance.
  • Stay informed on best practices for use of software impacting digital and computational design.

STANDARDS

  • Responsible for BIM and computational design, documentation, and technology standards. Which includes development, implementation, enforcement, enhancement, and change management.
  • Creation and ongoing maintenance of software template, content library, and files to assure high standards adoption across all offices.
  • Creation of automation of process and tasks using computational design (Python, Dynamo, C#) and integrations with 3rd party tools.
  • Coordinates with the QA/QC team to help evaluate and increase adherence to company project documentation standards.
  • Work with and leads various committees to strategize project delivery, company operations, best practices, guidelines, and implementation across all offices.
  • Create standards documentation and material for ease of adoption across all offices.

MANAGEMENT

  • Work closely with leadership, and project teams within the Renewable Energy department ensuring needs are met.
  • Evaluate and report on the firm’s current workflow, strategies, budgets, projects, staffing, etc.
  • Maintain a workflow process that promotes user involvement in forming feedback channels to continue to improve and enhance existing project delivery and optimization of BIM standards.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and a change manager in design delivery as it relates to 3D, computational design, and BIM utilizing Revit for project delivery.

TRAINING

  • Create, manage and provide fundamental to advanced training on Revit and computational design processes.
  • Create and conduct internal continuing education training sessions.
  • Provide technical orientation for new hires regarding design technology tools and workflows.
  • Create training documentation and material for ease of adoption across all offices relating to BIM and computational design.
  • Host regular user group meetings virtually and in-person for training software users.
  • Attend conferences, seminars, and workshops related to design technology to incorporate learning into company processes and training.

PROJECT INTERFACE

  • Support project standards and coordination with customers.
  • Assist on project work as needed, including support for modeling, scripting, and detailing questions.
  • Assist project teams in BIM project setup and execution planning.
  • Help resolve design and coordination issues through parametric modeling and computational design.
  • Function as a support escalation point between IT help desk and software vendors for complex issues with 3D design software.
  • Participate in and/or provide input to full stack development efforts with Ulteig’s developer team.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in architectural or engineering design or related field required.

 

What We Expect from You

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience or equivalent in 3D design in large complex projects utilizing Autodesk Revit.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in computational design within the AEC industry.
  • Expertise with Autodesk Revit and its API required.
  • Expertise in parametric modeling, algorithmic design, generative design, and form finding techniques.
  • Strong skills in visual programming languages (Grasshopper, Dynamo)
  • Strong skills in scripting languages (Python, C#)
  • Experience with machine learning and AI applications in design preferred.
  • Experience with project delivery software such as ProjectWise or BIM 360 /Construction Cloud required.
  • Strong computer, technical and communication skills are required.
  • Ability to seek out and resolve issues through close interaction with other project team members.
  • Effective communication and training skills (verbal and written).
  • Strong teaching and coaching skills to bring new team members up to speed.
  • Demonstrate skills of self-motivation and drive.
  • Experience in the power sector, including data centers, or infrastructure a plus but not a requirement.
  • Must have permanent authorization to work in US.

Additional Opportunity Details:
Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $132,500 -$179,100
* Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your job specific skills, education, training, job location, number of years of experience related to this role and comparison to other employees already in this role
