Role Purpose: This is a 12 month fixed term contract to support R&D in developing cloud-based bioinformatic pipelines, tool development, and data analysis. The person will be responsible for employing bioinformatic pipelines required to automate omics data processing and contribute to bioinformatics tool development and analysis of R&D data. The role involves hands-on work at the intersection of genomics, statistics, and cloud computing, providing valuable experience in applying cutting-edge technologies to biological data analysis.

Key Accountabilities and Duties:

  • Works as part of the Bioinformatics team to develop and deploy omics-based analysis pipelines (e.g. using Nextflow).

  • Supports onboarding and benchmarking of novel bioinformatics tools including software applications for lab scientists.

  • Facilitates innovation through literature reviews and integrating cutting-edge bioinformatics tools and technologies into data analysis.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Degree (required)*Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Data Science, or a related field

Essential:

  • Familiarity with omics data processing and analysis pipelines (e.g. Nextflow).

  • Understanding of bioinformatics methods and analysis of sequencing data.

  • Programming skills in a common scripting language (e.g. R, Python).

  • Experience using the Unix/Linux command line

  • Good problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

​Desired:

  • Experience working in cloud-based environments.

  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).

  • Knowledge of statistical analyses.
