This is a remote position.

Data Governance Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support a Federal Agency (Military Veterans are highly encouraged to apply). The Data Governance SME will understand key principles of data management and stewardship, organize and manage data assets and their related data policies and business rules, and create policies, processes and procedures associated with data governance. You will work closely with business users to understand their data requirements and the analytic insights they need to make data-driven decisions. As a Data Governance SME you will work with solution architects, data owners, data stewards, policy developers, process and workflow analysts, data scientists, and business analysts to manage data governance activities, including data governance 

Position: Full-time

Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship

Location:  Remote Work with some travel to DC, Austin TX, and Lakeland FL, and possibly other VA sites over time.  

Clearance: Public Trust

Responsibilities and Duties:

Analyze the current state of the data architectures of various systems – software components, technologies, data models and business processes; incorporate data policies and metadata into data governance policies, processes and procedures; create data governance models, including assets, relationships, domains, and communities; create future-state application data architectures; define workflow, security and integration requirements and dashboard and reporting requirements; generate data management artifacts – data models, diagrams, ETL source-to-target mappings, data dictionaries, and dataflow diagrams; and propose and enforce data management best practices, data standards, and data management policies and rules across different functional areas of an organization.
Required Qualifications and Skills

  • 10 years of experience in consulting and data governance activities.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, management of technology, computer engineering, or a related field. M.S preferred.
  • Expert level understanding of data governance frameworks.
  • Experience with Data Governance/Data Quality tools.
  • Experience with data modeling (conceptual, logical, and physical) and a knowledge of relational databases.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and communicate data governance concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • In addition, U.S Citizenship is required. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and be able to obtain a government-granted security clearance. Individuals may also be subject to a background investigation including, but not limited to criminal history, employment and education verification, drug testing, and creditworthiness.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  •  Agency experience highly preferred.
