Amazon continues to invest heavily in building our world class advertising business. Our products are strategically important to our Retail and Marketplace businesses, driving long term growth. We deliver billions of ad impressions and millions of clicks daily, breaking fresh ground to create world-class products. We are highly motivated, collaborative and fun-loving with an entrepreneurial spirit and strong bias for action. With a broad mandate to experiment and innovate, we are growing at an unprecedented rate with a seemingly endless range of new opportunities. The Sponsored Products Monetization team is broadly responsible for pricing of ads on Amazon search pages, balancing short-term and long-term ad revenue growth to drive sustainable marketplace health.
We are looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to join the Monetization team in Marketplace Intelligence with a broad mandate to build auction pricing systems. We are part of cross-functional organization of PMs, scientists and engineers working on complex solutions to allocate, rank and price search advertising auctions that operate under strict latency constraints, presenting shoppers with ads that are not only relevant to their actual shopping experience, but also non-obtrusive. You will build services to handle billions of requests per day, while maintaining response latencies in milliseconds and meeting strict SLA requirements. It is quite routine for our systems to operate on massive datasets using distributed frameworks. You will design and code, troubleshoot, and support high volume and low latency distributed systems. You will directly impact our customers’ shopping experience while helping our sellers get best value from advertising on Amazon.
Key job responsibilities
- Design, develop, and production software to support scalable offline machine-learning pipelines and online serving components.
- Partner with scientists to build pricing systems to test auction monetization policies by running A/B experiments.
- Integrate your solutions with high volume and low latency distributed systems
- Measure the impact and customer response to your solutions through rapid experimentation
- Work closely with applied scientists to optimize the performance of machine-learning models, improve the team’s machine learning productivity, and advance the technical foundation to empower our science innovation.
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Master's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience in machine learning, data mining, information retrieval, statistics or natural language processing
