As a part of the global research, our AI research in Silicon Valley focuses on Foundation Models, Big Data Visual Analytics, Explainable AI (XAI), Natural Language Processing, 3D Perception & Mixed Reality, Cloud Robotics, Data Science, AI Platform, Time-series Analysis. We develop scalable, intelligent, and trustworthy AIoT solutions to enable inspiring UX for Bosch products and services in application areas such as automated driving, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), robotics, smart manufacturing, enterprise AI, health care, smart home and building solutions.

As a part of our global research unit, our Vision and Language AI Group focuses on creating single and multi-modal AI solutions for practical real-world RB applications by harnessing the capabilities of computer vision, natural language processing, and sophisticated AI technologies like foundational models. Our expertise includes 3D perception, multimodal understanding, object detection, segmentation, tracking and pose estimation, visual localization, sensor fusion, reinforcement learning, etc. We work with internal partners of different Bosch business units to transfer our solutions into future products. We also actively collaborate with leading groups in academia and industry to promote research ideas and publish research findings in internationally renowned conferences and journals, e.g., CVPR, ICCV, ICRA, IROS, RSS, ISMAR, ECCV, NeurIPS, ICLR, AAAI, and SIGGRAPH.

Job Description

  • Conduct advanced research and engineering in 3D perception and deep learning to address challenges in autonomous systems.
  • Work with an international team of experts to transfer and apply the Bosch in-house 3D vision innovations and solutions to Bosch products and services.
  • Stay abreast of the latest technological advancements and market trends by attending academic conferences, technical events, and seminars.
  • Offer expert insights to the management team in relevant technology sectors, aiding in strategic planning, R&D trajectory, and investment decisions.
  • Document and disseminate research findings through high-caliber publications and/or patent submissions.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science or Engineering
  • 3+ years of research experience or equivalent graduate research experience for real-time, high quality computer vision and deep learning algorithms & systems.
  • Hands-on experiences in computer vision and deep learning, with work in at least two of the following areas: multimodal transformers, multimodal language models, diffusion models, NeRF, Gaussian splatting, object detection/segmentation, 3D scene understanding, sensor calibration, autonomous driving, SfM, voxel/BEV grid-based feature representation.
  • Programming experience in Python and/or C++ and hands on experience with libraries such as OpenCV, Tensorflow, and PyTorch.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Publication record in top venues including CVPR, ICCV, ICRA, ECCV, NeurIPS, ICLR, SIGGRAPH.
  • Strong background in math and statistics
  • Experience in working with hardware systems including sensors such as cameras, depth sensors, IMU, LIDAR, etc.
  • Experience in product development in the above-mentioned areas for consumer/enterprise markets.
  • Experience in leading R&D project & team dealing with international customers.
  • Leadership skills with excellent English communication & teamwork skills.

Culture and Benefits | Bosch in the USA

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $ 175,000 - $185,000. Within the range, individual pay is determined based on several factors, including, but not limited to, work experience and job knowledge, complexity of the role, job location, etc. Your Recruiter can share more details about the specific salary range for this position during the interview process.
