Some of the key responsibilities will be to support the regular processes and activities of the Corporate Actuarial team within deadlines to required standards and deliver timely and good quality actuarial services to internal and external stakeholders.

  •  Assist in the production and analysis of the quarterly valuation and reporting for the UK sourced business, including calculating our valuation results on PROPHET and ensuring consistency between PROPHET results and central reporting system.
  • Assist in preparation of reports to Management explaining quarterly results and how results compared against expected.
  • Assist with other tasks within team as required, for example, the setting up of new treaties on PROPHET (protection and longevity).
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of our PROPHET model
  • Identify and implement process improvements to ensure increased efficiency of tasks and/or accuracy of results.
  • Assist in preparation of SCOR’s business plan including estimating new business and future business cashflows and ensuring information is correctly input into the SCOR’s central systems.
  • Maintain and enhance processes, controls and documentation in accordance with Group ERM principles and regulatory standards. 
  • Actively participate and contribute to SCOR’s actuarial community and achieve good progress in the actuarial exams.  Build and maintain professional relationships with other life functional areas

Experience

  • This is a trainee role, so no specific experience essential but some previous experience in the insurance industry would be advantageous.
  • Candidate would be embarking on the actuarial exams or having passed/gained exemptions for several exams. 

 

Digital Competencies

Essential

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft packages (particularly Excel).
  • Knowledge of data science applications (such as R, Python or Tableau) or aptitude to learn these skills.

Desirable

  • Experience of using Prophet (or similar package).
  • Experience of MS Access.
  • Proven ability to code in excel VBA.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalence 
  • Member of UK actuarial profession (or equivalent) – if not already a member, then there is a requirement to become a member on joining the team.
