Yahoo’s Enterprise IT Applications team is responsible for developing and maintaining an integrated, scalable corporate application architecture that enables business process automation, improved operational efficiencies, and better management insights for Yahoo globally. Aligned strategically within Yahoo's Global CIO organization, the team collaborates closely with various departments, including Finance, HR, Sales, Legal, Engineering, Products, and other administrative groups, to deliver application-driven business process solutions and management reporting platforms. Responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting large-scale enterprise business systems, as well as employee-facing productivity and communication tools, this team plays a crucial role in powering Yahoo's internal operations.

Job Responsibilities/The Role/The Job 

The position is for a Software Apps Engineer (BI Team). As a Business Intelligence Developer in the Enterprise BI Team, your primary responsibilities will include the design, development, support, and maintenance of our automated business intelligence products. You will Identify business requirements, design processes that leverage/adapt the business logic and regularly communicate with stakeholders to ensure delivery meets business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and implement BI solutions both in ETL and Reporting

• Utilise advanced SQL skills for data mining and collaborate with ETL developers for database development.

• Develop BI reports and collaborate with global stakeholders.

• Possess excellent knowledge of RDBMS, SQL, and data warehousing concepts.

• Work independently using Python and guide the team.

• Work in a Global delivery environment and be familiar with Agile (Scrum) project methodology and practices.

Overall Position Scope and Accountability:

• Operate independently with guidance only in complex situations.

• Serve as a mentor for colleagues with lesser experience.

• Guide others in solving complex work problems.

• Develop solutions to complex/unusual problems in their area.

• Demonstrate the ability to take a new perspective on existing solutions.

Skills & Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Intelligence, or a related field.

• 3 to 7 + years of industry experience, including 5+ years specifically in Reporting/ETL BI development.

• Strong Python skills.

• Experience with cloud technologies.

• In-depth understanding of relational databases (e.g., Oracle, MySQL) and experience with data modeling.

• Advanced skills in writing complex SQL queries for data extraction and manipulation.
