About this role…

As a Data Engineer - Web Scraping Specialist at Flipdish, you will play a pivotal role in building and enriching a comprehensive database of current and prospective clients. 

 

Your primary responsibility will be to utilize your web scraping skills to gather valuable data from various online sources, ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and cleanliness of the collected data. You will work closely with the Head of Revenue and collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide insights that drive informed business decisions.

In this job, you’ll… 

• Employ advanced web scraping techniques to extract relevant data from websites and online platforms.
• Develop and maintain web scraping scripts using Python and other relevant technologies.
• Clean, preprocess, and transform the collected data to ensure consistency and accuracy.
• Manage and optimize large datasets to enable efficient storage and retrieval.
• Collaborate with the salesforce & data teams to integrate scraped data into existing systems and databases.
• Continuously monitor and refine scraping processes to adapt to changes in source websites.
• Work closely with the Head of Revenue to identify data needs and contribute to the development of data-driven strategies.
• Explore new data sources and techniques to enhance the quality and scope of the client database.
• Provide data insights and visualizations to various stakeholders within the company.

We’re looking for…

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Proven experience as a Data Engineer or similar role, with a strong focus on web scraping and data collection.
• Proficiency in Python and experience with web scraping libraries such as BeautifulSoup, Scrapy, or Selenium.
• Solid understanding of data management principles, including data cleaning, transformation, and validation.
• Experience working with large datasets and database systems (SQL, NoSQL, etc.).
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and optimize scraping processes.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality, accurate data.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
