As a key member of the Cyber Risk Modeling (CRM) team under the Analytics department, this role will research and analyze robust cybersecurity datasets to engineer risk scoring pipeline models. The CRM team is responsible for building industry leading Cyber Risk Models through collaboration with our market leading Data Science, Data Engineering, and Application Engineering teams. This role works with these departments to create and then implement models into production environments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a cyber expert point of view to evaluate data sources, develop and build product use cases, and develop assumptions and logic for cyber risk metrics
  • Build and validate cyber risk models and analytical engines for single-risk and aggregate-risk products for the insurance industry
  • Extract meaningful insights from the cyber threat landscape (e.g. cyber incidents, cyber risk trends, technological trends, etc.) to inform product development and educate internal and external stakeholders
  • Conduct in-depth research at the crossroads of cyber security, insurance, and risk modeling on topics of interest (e.g. critical vulnerabilities, malware, ransomware, trending exploits, data breach techniques, proof-of-concept hacks, etc.)
  • Work closely with product, analytics, engineering, and client success team members in day-to-day tasks and projects

Skills and Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Python / R, relational databases (incl. SQL), big data frameworks (Spark / Hadoop), flat files and complex data types (JSON, XML, etc.), APIs, and Excel
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, cyber security, statistics, economics, mathematics, or related field
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience
  • Self-starter able to work well independently as well as in various team settings
  • Intellectual curiosity, willingness to learn new skills, and ability to contribute ideas
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Eager to work in an agile environment
  • An analytical mindset with problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Experience working in one or more of the following industries & fields: cyber security, data science, risk modeling & management, and consulting
