As part of our Silicon Technologies group, you’ll help design and manufacture our next-generation, high-performance, power-efficient processor, system-on-chip (SoC). You’ll ensure Apple products and services can seamlessly and efficiently handle the tasks that make them beloved by millions. Together, you and your team will enable our customers to do all the things they love with their devices.

Description


You will translate architecture specifications and use case descriptions for new and emerging workloads including Machine Learning (ML) to test scenarios on Silicon. You will gain insights into the cutting-edge SOC IP and chip-level architecture that powers Apple Products (iPhone/iPad/Macs/Watch/TV). Validate the block level and system level performance of various subsystems in the SoC, and the QoS architecture of the SoC. Collect and analyze the hardware performance data to study and validate the impact of various architecture and micro-architectural features on the QoS and block-level and system-level Performance of the SoC. You will collaborate with cross-function teams including architecture, hardware design, and software teams to develop testplans, debug, and correlate silicon data. You will write low-level driver code in a RTOS to configure and run various sub-systems (e.g. display, cameras, video encoders/decoders). Develop and maintain latency critical software to identify and root-cause complex performance/QoS issues. You will help bringup prototypes and explore power and performance of bare metal workloads. You will acquire valuable software skills in modeling real customer use cases, and developing and debugging Device Drivers and RTOS using lldb/Xcode!

Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experienced with performance benchmarking and high-performance architectures
  • Proven knowledge of computer architecture, system architecture, SoC architecture, and memory systems
  • Good understanding of video and image processing systems
  • Proven knowledge in pipelining, bus architectures, and protocols
  • Experienced with embedded systems programming (e.g. bare-metal, RTOS, kernel, driver programming)
  • Expert in C programmingSkilled at scripting – Python, bash
  • Experienced with some data analysis and data visualization tools is preferred
  • Possess strong math skills


Pay & Benefits


  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $121,900 and $183,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

    Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
