Our Maritz team is adding a Data Scientist to the group! The Data Scientist will leverage data analysis, causal inference, machine learning, strategic thinking, and data storytelling to create value for Maritz clients.

This person will work intimately with the client success and data engineering teams to complete projects and ensure client satisfaction. The ideal candidate can identify data science problems, find solutions, and effectively communicate the results to non-technical stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities

50% - Conducts detailed data analyses to generate insights, tell data stories, and offer client recommendations. Creates machine learning models for tasks like customer segmentation, sales forecasting, and churn prediction to improve clients’ programs. Applies techniques in quasi-experimental design (e.g., matching, ITS) to determine the incremental effect of interventions. Designs experiments to test interventions like emailed promotions.

20% - Visualizes and communicates findings and recommendations to clients (often C-suite) in face-to-face meetings, driving client value and representing Maritz with the highest level of professionalism and integrity.

30% - Writes queries (BigQuery, SQL Server…) and scripts to gather, clean, and pre-process raw structured and unstructured data for data science tasks. Helps manage, maintain, and improve client data sources. Works with data engineering to deploy scripts and models within reliable pipelines.

• Required to be highly proficient in SQL and either Python or R (both is a plus).

• 1.5+ years of experience translating data into engaging stories, with actionable insights.

• 1.5+ years of experience applying statistics, experimental design, and causal inference.

• 1.5+ years of experience developing end-to-end machine learning solutions.

• Must thrive when presenting complex analyses to non-technical stakeholders.

• Must be willing to develop a deep understanding of Maritz’ client’s businesses.

• Experience using cloud data science tools is a plus.

• Experience with promotions, customer loyalty, or sales incentives is a plus.

• Experience with policy evaluation, behavioral science/economics, or similar fields is a plus.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in statistics, economics, engineering, business, or other relevant experience required.
