Job Title:

Credit Risk Review Data Manager

Location:

Scottsdale

What you'll do:

This position is responsible for selecting, managing, and reporting data within the Internal Credit Risk Review (CRR) department. The Credit Risk Review Data Manager will perform tasks that increase the data-driven operational successes of the department, using tools such as SQL, Dax, Excel, Tableau, Word and Power BI. The Data Manager should be proficient in developing and managing reports in various formats, including, but not limited to, Excel, Tableau and Power BI. While this not an IT position, this position is directly connected to the Internal Credit Risk Review department’s day-to-day responsibilities and should be proficient in the Bank’s data elements. The Credit Risk Review Data Manager will create relevant visualizations of data, manage current CRR databases in the respective application(s), create new calculated variables and/or ad-hoc reports, and create or edit the data in order to tailor generic datasets towards the CRR department. The Credit Risk Review Data Manager is responsible for effectively communicating progress and output results to other members of the department that will use the information, many of which will not have the same knowledge of data manipulation as this position requires. This position requires using datasets whose content is related to commercial lending and/or any other potential data that might be reviewed by the department.
A learning mindset towards credit, loan operations, finance, accounting, regulations, and commercial banking is strongly preferred. The incumbent is expected to demonstrate a high degree of confidence in working independently on ad hoc tasks as needed for the department. This position will also support the Credit Risk Management Review Director in accordance with the Credit Risk Oversight team’s review and oversight of the Bank’s Allowance for Credit Losses (ACL) process. Being involved with the oversight of the ACL process, the incumbent should be skilled in understanding credit requirements and portfolio segmentation, as well as, reviewing credit approval packages, credit risk ratings, problem loan reporting, and other similar credit-related items. The Data Manager’s knowledge of credit will allow for seamless interaction with members of the Bank’s Credit Administration Department which executes the ACL process. In addition, the Data Manager will stay up to date on the latest risk-related news and trends across the financial services industry, economics, markets, politics, etc. and apply critical thinking to anticipate potential impact(s) on the performance of the Bank’s loan portfolios. This position is located in either Scottsdale, AZ, Dallas, TX, Las Vegas, NV, San Jose, CA, San Diego, CA, or Los Angeles, CA.
Internal Credit Risk Review is a department within the Bank’s second line of defense for credit risk management known as the Credit Risk & Review Group. The independent Credit Risk & Review Group’s mission is to help ensure the financial soundness of the Company by identifying, assessing, and escalating credit risk to the Board and senior management, and to drive continuous improvement in the quality of the bank’s credit risk management consistent with the risks and complexities of its loan portfolio. To execute its mission, our Group is organized in two separate, but synergistically collaborative teams comprised of Internal Credit Risk Review and Credit Risk Oversight.
