JOB DESCRIPTION
Purpose: A successful Cloud Database Engineer will be expected to plan, analyze, design, test and deploy cloud database solutions globally at LS&Co. The employee will need to demonstrate functional knowledge and technical expertise at the enterprise level related to multiple database technologies including but not limited to Microsoft SQL, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SAP HANA. The employee would be required to promote innovative solutions to our customer’s and develop relationships with key customer stakeholders to help them achieve their business goals.
Key Results:
- Design and deploy cloud database technology solutions in Azure using IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS
- Define and document database technology standards for supporting teams
- Lead technical discussions with executives that drive decisions and implementations
- Review and manage technical and business requirements gathering for establishing new solutions
- Develop and design architecture with database technologies that meets customer’s technical, security, and business needs for apps/workloads.
- Design deployment strategies to migrate from old database technologies to new technologies including private cloud to public cloud migrations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Architect, implement, and support cloud database solutions in geographically dispersed datacenters and public clouds
- Develop Infrastructure as Code using PowerShell, Python, Bash, Ansible, Terraform and other tools
- Monitor databases and related systems to ensure optimized performance, availability, and recoverability
- Provide technical escalation support for new and existing database technologies in collaboration with other technical and management stakeholders
- Maintain and verify database documentation related to design, operations and backup/recovery
- Keeping abreast of developments and best practices in database engineering
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education Required:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent vendor certifications and experience;
Cloud Certifications preferred
Years and Type of Experience Required:
- Experience using two or more of the following toolsets: Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, XL Release, Artifactory, GitHub, Continuum, PowerShell
- 5+ years’ experience managing database environments in either Azure, GCP or AWS
- Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages for database automation and maintenance tasks
- Familiarity with database security best practices and techniques for data protection
- Experience in performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting database performance issues
- Knowledge of database backup and recovery strategies, as well as disaster recovery procedures
- Experience with troubleshooting skills, problem solving and resolution (root cause identification)
- Experience with vendor management
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Microsoft SQL, MySQL, Oracle, and PostgreSQL; SAP HANA a plus
Extremely strong troubleshooting skills
Complexity and Accountability:
Self-managed and motivated individual with strong leadership skill
Strong verbal, written, technical and communication skills in the English Language.
Ability to work with all levels of users - inexperienced non-technical users as well as experienced technical users
Must possess the ability to manage cross function team initiatives

- Internal: Technology Teams, HR, Corporate Communications, Brands
- External (if applicable): Managed Services partners, Hardware vendors, Software Vendors
Scope: Global responsibility
Additional Information:
Oncall rotation with other team members for 7x24 production systems support
