Summary of Job Duties:

The Program Associate-Economic Analysis is responsible for collecting, organizing, analyzing and presenting social and economic data to assess economic value, impacts and opportunities in Arkansas and other regions.

This includes, but is not limited to:
• annual economic contribution of agriculture in Arkansas
• regional analysis of agriculture’s contribution to state GDP
• contribution analyses for sub-state regions or specific industries
• analysis of data trends and issues impacting Arkansas counties and regions
• impact of University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture (UADA) research and extension activities
• other analyses as requested by UADA Administration

The candidate will be responsible for collaborating with University of Arkansas System faculty and staff to produce annual reports, factsheets, press releases, website and social media content, and other educational materials to be utilized by UADA personnel and key stakeholders. The candidate may also be required to prepare posters, papers, or presentations for various meetings and conferences.

The Program Associate will operate in an independent, decision-making role in the planning and execution of programs. Work objectives will be coordinated with Assistant Professor-Rural Development, but project implementation and management are primarily the responsibilities of the Program Associate. Program Associates are expected to contribute effectively to conceptual framework, program design, result dissemination, educational activities and the pursuit of extramural financial support.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Agricultural Economics or a related field plus three (3) years of experience conducting economic impact analysis, OR a related Master's degree is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Master’s degree in Economics, Agricultural Economics or a related field plus 3 years of experience conducting economic impact analysis is preferred, as well as one or more of the following:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience in searching public economic databases (e.g. USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service, US Bureau of Economic Analysis, US Census Bureau, etc.)
  • Experience in verifying, updating, and reviewing economic data
  • Experience in producing annual reports and peer-reviewed publications
  • Experience using IMPLAN economic analysis software
  • Experience using web content management software
  • Experience in ArcGIS Pro
  • Experience in statistical analysis software (i.e. STATA, SAS, MATLAB, R, Python, SPSS, etc.)
