About the Machine Learning Platform TeamMachine Learning Platform is part of the Platform Engineering team at Wealthsimple and is responsible for:
1. Providing a simple and reliable platform for model development, model training, prediction serving and experimentation for both traditional ML models alongside GenAI applications2. Abstract the engineering complexities involved in productionizing ML/AI to allow model developers to focus on building delightful applications.

About the RoleAs a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, you will significantly contribute to shaping Wealthsimple’s machine learning foundations. You’ll partner with a cross-discipline team to evolve our model developer cycle, while also maintaining fundamental platforms that support Wealthsimple developers, your clients.  We understand each software engineer has a unique blend of skills so whether your strength is in ml-ops, infrastructure or enabling Generative AI, we'd love to chat with you 🙂

As a Senior Software Developer - ML Platform, you will:

• Partner with stakeholders across different product domains and platform teams to tackle technical problems at scale, including the implementation and rollout of the next iteration of our ML Platform
• Build the foundation to leverage Generative AI, including fine tuning with open source LLMs, exploring new serving architectures such as NVIDIA NIM/TensorRT
• Maintain and improve a suite of tools that power our platform and make more seamless experiences for our Developers, including: NVIDIA Triton, MLflow, Airflow, FastAPI, Kubernetes
• Set the technical direction for impactful projects such as building a framework for fine tuning LLMs
• Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies in ML Ops and Generative AI, and assess their viability for adoption within the platform

What you bring:

• Strong programming skills in Python, and experience with containerization, Infrastructure-as-code and working within the AWS ecosystem
• Experience with design and implementation of high performance systems with reliable monitoring and logging
• Experience owning applications end-to-end and are able to understand and address infrastructure concerns
• Knowledge of Machine Learning, Applied AI and how it interacts with platforms at scale
