Data Modeller

Overview

We are looking for a Data Modeler to play a lead role in designing and building a Data Platform. You will collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation to understand requirements and build data models to support data warehouse automation. 

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and document data requirements, business rules, and objectives
• Design and develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support business needs that meet best practice requirements for performance, scalability, user experience, security and governance
• Work closely with data engineers and architects to integrate data models into the overall data platform architecture, ensuring efficient data processing and storage
• Evaluate and recommend appropriate data storage technologies and database management systems based on project requirements and constraints
• Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to present and explain data models, design choices, and recommendations
• Act as a technical expert on client engagements delivering complex projects and programmes
• Contribute to a high performing team of professionals as a technical expert, including the ability to coordinate contributions of other specialists to complete a joint project
• Guide/mentor team members

Qualifications

• Essential: 
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as computer science, business informatics or mathematics. Comparable education or professional experience also considered
• Desirable:
  • Certification in any one programming skill

  • Data Warehousing and ETL

  • Excellent documentation experience 
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Ability to provide hands on leadership skills 
  • Problem solving skills 

Essential skills

• Knowledge of modern database technologies (relational/non-relational).
• Knowledge of payments industry ideal (ISO8583, POS etc.)
• Must be comfortable with being considered a reliable and proactive influential team member who is not afraid to take on responsibility in the team (for highlighting, planning and implementing improvements in existing and new applications). 
• Strong communication skills (e.g. with product owners and stakeholders as well as technical-representatives), coordination skills
• Highly organized and highly competent in solving issues and finding solutions.
• Can do, will do open-minded attitude. You will wear many hats, some you will be familiar with and others will be an opportunity to develop.

Experience

• 8+ years’ professional experience in technical data and analytics roles 
• 5+ years’ professional experience in data modelling 
• Recent hands-on experience with Data Vault implementation and relevant experience working with other data modelling concepts such as Inmon and Kimbal
