We are currently looking for a highly motivated Senior Engineer Advanced Technology, ML/NLP (M/F/D) to join our Advanced Technology team in Martinsried/Munich or Meiningen, Germany, to lead efforts in developing advanced Machine Learning (ML) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) technologies for packet and optical transport network solutions. Principle duties and essential functions

As a Senior Research Engineer at Adtran, you will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and advancing ML and NLP technologies tailored to optical networks and packet transport systems.

• Lead research and development projects focused on applying machine learning, deep learning, and NLP to optical network and packet transport solutions

• Design and implement ML algorithms for network traffic prediction, anomaly detection, fault management, and performance optimization

• Develop NLP systems for automating network management, user interface interactions, and real-time data processing

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ML and NLP technologies into existing products and future innovations

• Contribute to patent filings, scientific publications, and present findings at industry conferences

• Cooperation with customers and the research community in national and international funded projects

Knowledge, skills and experience required

• PhD or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Machine Learning, Data Science, or related field

• Strong experience in machine learning, natural language processing, or related areas with a focus on real-world applications

• Strong knowledge of deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and experience with NLP tools and libraries

• Strong programming skills in Python, C++, Java, or other relevant languages.

• Strong communication skills being able to present complex technical information to an audience

• Experience with SDN (Software Defined Networking) and NFV (Network Function Virtualization) technologies is advantageous

• Willingness to travel to project meetings and conferences

• Fluent in oral and written English, fluency in German is a plus
