The Position

At Roche’s Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED) organisation, our mission is to develop transformative medicines that address some of the world's most challenging and unmet healthcare needs. Within the Ophthalmology Discovery Therapeutic Area, we are dedicated to identifying novel biological targets and collaborating across diverse pRED functions to translate scientific hypotheses into groundbreaking therapeutics for patients.

Job mission:

We are offering a remarkable internship opportunity, in the Ophthalmology Discovery Therapeutic Area, to contribute to accelerating drug discovery processes by advancing more predictive human model systems. You will work alongside multidisciplinary scientists to develop new human in vitro models, set up assays, and perform relevant analyses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cell Culture and Model Development: Perform cell culture experiments and contribute to the development and characterization of new human in vitro model systems using molecular biology techniques and imaging.

  • Lab Research: Design, plan, and execute laboratory research projects.

  • Data Analysis: Analyse experimental results and assist in the interpretation of data.

  • Reporting: Communicate scientific progress through internal meetings and prepare reports as needed.

Qualifications:

  • You are currently enrolled in an M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Biology, Biotechnology, Pharmacology, or a related field or graduated within the last 12 months prior to the start date

  • Technical Skills: Basic laboratory skills, including familiarity with cell culture techniques (human primary cells, pluripotent stem cells, or organoids) and molecular biology methods.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Attention to Detail: Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.

  • You have an excellent command of both spoken and written English.

6 months – starting in January 2025
