As new R&D Electrical Engineer, you will join our Global Multi-Physic Simulation (GLOMUS) network team in the Swiss Technology Center of HITACHI-Energy. You will be part of a group of key people with specific expertise in the fields of electrical, structural, acoustic, thermo-mechanic and fluid-dynamics analyses, simulation and testing.
As part of our global R&D community including Technology Centers and Research Centers worldwide, you will contribute to support all factories in the PG Dry, Traction and Distribution Transformers on innovative and challenging research projects.
You will focus on developing new technologies and products, optimizing existing ones and on supporting different engineering offices around the world.
Your responsibilities
Study of current state of art in the field of 2D and 3D simulation of transformers
Analysis of performance of different parameters of dry transformers by means of 2D and 3D electromagnetic FEM calculations
Develop new automations for the assessment of products through electromagnetic simulations coupled with structural, thermomechanical and acoustic simulations
Run feasibility studies, develop new technical concepts, design new products and simulate their expected performances
Organize prototyping and testing activities to validate new technologies/products
Lead product and technology development projects in the field of Dry, Traction and Oil Distribution Transformer, delivering results on time and on budget at agreed scope and quality
Support the transfer of technology and knowledge from R&D to engineering department by writing design rules, preparing trainings and collaborating with design tools team
Provide technical support to other departments when needed (engineering, product management, marketing and sales etc.)

Your background
PhD with 2+ years of experience or MSc with 5+ years in Electrical Engineering
Experience in transformer design, with expertise in predicting performance aspects like leakage fields, stray losses, and short-circuit forces
Proficiency in finite element analysis and experience using tools like ANSYS Maxwell, COMSOL, or other FEM-based electromagnetic simulation software
Knowledge of programming languages like Matlab, Python, or Visual Basic
Experience in electrical testing of transformers
Strong project management skills
A results-driven and innovative mindset, with a focus on creative problem-solving
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Willingness to travel for work
