The position will be located in Basel in the cross-functional RNAHub, where disease biologists, nonclinical development experts, molecular biologists, molecule engineers, bioengineers and data scientists from various pRED functions join together to create and apply technologies that interfere with mRNA expression to discover drugs, biomarkers and targets. 

The RNAHub takes a very data-centric approach, utilizing both artificial and human intelligence, that requires a high degree of data literacy. In the RNAHub, we build a strong, collective and engaged community, where we employ, explore and evolve new ways of working in a research environment.

In this position, you will:

  • Research publicly available data from databases, publications, and patents related to antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) and small-interference RNAs (siRNAs)

  • Organize collected information about design, chemistry, in vitro, and in vivo experiments together with the corresponding metadata into consistent, well-annotated datasets

  • Carry out systematic data analysis using state-of-the-art statistical or AI applications

  • Make decisions independently, document and communicate efficiently with stakeholders and experts from the RNAHub

Who you are:

We are looking for a candidate with B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree (degree obtained within the last 12 months or currently enrolled at a university) in Life Sciences and the following skills

  • Proficiency in pharmacology, toxicology, biology. biochemistry, chemistry or a related life science discipline

  • Solid knowledge in statistics or advanced analytics (bioinformatics, data science or a related quantitative science discipline)

  • Ideally experienced in mining publicly available data using programming (e.g., Python, R) or specific software (e.g., KNIME)

  • Systematic and diligent way of work with high level of independence, precision and scientific rigor

  • A proactive and transparent team player with a dedicated attitude

  • Proficient in English (German, French or Italian is a plus)
