As a Principal Architect at JPMorgan Chase within CIB Payments Technology you provide expertise to enhance and develop architecture platforms based on modern cloud-based technologies, as well as support the adoption of strategic global solutions. Leverage your advanced architecture capabilities and collaborate with colleagues across the organization to drive best-in-class outcomes. This role is a member of the Payments Technology Architecture team with primary responsibilities of Data Architecture and Strategy as well as API design.  You will build strong relationships and foster collaboration to effectively work across a wide range of stakeholders to gain buy-in and drive progress in a fast paced and evolving environment.

Job responsibilities

  • Advises cross-functional teams on technology selection to achieve target state architecture and decisions on improvements to current technologies
  • Develops multi-year roadmaps aligned with business and architecture strategy and priorities
  • Creates complex and scalable coding frameworks using appropriate software design
  • Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Serves as the function’s go-to subject matter expert
  • Contributes to the development of technical methods in specialized fields in line with the latest product development methodologies
  • Creates durable, reusable software frameworks that improves velocity and quality of output across teams and functions
  • Champions the firm’s culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
  • Defines strategic Data Architecture and standards including path from current state to target state
  • Creates conceptual, logical and state data models including data flows and physical data architecture implementations based on architectural patterns.
  • Creates API design, schema definitions and defines API Architecture

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on Architecture concepts and expert applied experience.
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Expertise in one or more programming language(s) Java, JavaScript or Python
  • Familiarity with Open API spec 3.0, Async API and/or Graphql
  • Deep knowledge in one or more software, applications, and architecture
  • Advanced knowledge of software architecture, application development, and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
  • Experience applying expertise and new methods to determine solutions for complex architecture problems in one or more technical disciplines
  • Experience leading a product as a Product Owner or Product Manager
  • Ability to present and effectively communicate to Senior Leaders and Executives - must be able to synthesize data into concise messages for leadership via technical writing, blogs, papers, patterns
  • Practical cloud native experience 
  • Expertise with data orientation and Data Architecture including API, event driven and pub sub patterns.
